Publisher's Summary
Ward - Susannah is the only woman who’s ever tested my control. Fighting fires is my life, but I can’t put out the fire between us. I tell myself I can keep my distance, tell myself it’s nothing more than a little fun. She fills every corner of my thoughts and kicks my control to the curb. Still, I have this. I can handle her. Then I find out she’s pregnant - with our baby. All bets are off. I’ll do anything to make her mine.
Susannah - One night. Four years ago. We nearly set each other on fire, but I never thought I’d see Ward again. Then he comes walking back into my world - the epitome of tall, dark, and dangerous. I can’t withstand the heat. We take another chance, thinking we can burn this fire to ashes. But that’s only the beginning. It’s a mess - he’s my boss and now…. He’s about to be a father.

I think I'm getting jaded.
I loved the fact that Susannah didn't hide the pregnancy from Ward. (Biggest petpeeve and one of the main reasons I don't like women.) But instead of talking to each other they talk to their friends/coworkers. All the crap Susannah whined to her friends about she should have been telling Ward. I guess I'm getting jaded with these types of storylines. Girl cries, I love him, then freaking TELL him. I'm scared he won't want me. Good, now you know. Freaking stress you're putting yourself through isn't good for the baby. She's a freaking HotShot fire fighter. Where's her ladyballs? I can't stand weak women. Ward has the right mind set, but he should have just told her. If people are afraid of communication and that it'll cause the other to run, it's better they know it sooner than later.
The narrator's were fine. When I'm grumbling about books it's easier to listen than read because I might have given up.

nah
This is the 4th one, and the first one is the best one. I can't get into this one, the narration is over done, especially the male narrator. The female narrator does male voices quite well. overall disappointed.

Fabulous story
What a beautiful story! I so enjoyed it and the narration was great!! I look forward to any other books by this author and I intend to look for other narrations by these same two people! Characters were well developed and the two main characters were easy to think about!

Hotshot Firefighters Burn Up This Story
Hot Mess is the fourth book in the Into The Fire series but can be read as a stand-alone book. Narrated in a dual point of view by Brooke Bloomingdale and Lance Greenfield who are both well cast for this couple and the support voices.
Ward and Susannah met four years ago when they were training together as hotshot firefighters. They had a super hot night together that they both remember fondly, but each moved on with their lives. Now Ward has accepted the position of superintendent of the hotshot team and he will soon move to Willow Brook, Alaska as Susannah's boss. For now he isn't her boss yet and their chemistry still burns as strong as ever. They decide to have one more night together but that will be all.
That one night leads to Susannah being pregnant. She has faught so hard and so long to be an equal in a male dominant job that she worries what the changes will mean for her. Ward wants to do right by Susannah and protect her both from harming herself or their baby on a risky job and from small town gossip. They have a lot of challenges to overcome and need to figure out if their hook up can be the start of more or if lust is all they have in common other than the baby.

it's just sex
I gotta say, if you're in the mood to just hear sex scene after sex scene then this is the book for you. if you skip all the sex, you maybe have an hour or two of plot.

If I’d wanted erotica I’d have ordered erotica
The story line could have been pretty good. The frequent explicit descriptions of sex scenes was way over done. There is a few minutes of the story the 15 minutes of sex. I was looking for a good story not raunch.
