Can't complain with the quality, just the content
I can see why Dale Carnegie books are so well rated. I am sure they help many people. For me, however, I find them a bit drawn out and overfilled with stories of other people's troubles and improvements. Can be a bit of a bore to get through. Couldn't imagine reading this one.

This book was referred to me at a very crucial point of my life. It provided much needed perspective to help me get over my troubles. Every time I listen to this book I gain more insight and it helps me do differently. Falling back into old habits, for me, is common. The lessons within the story, the way they are told, and the helpful information is layed out in an easy to absorb... easy to digest... easy to act... format. 100% recommend if worry is a struggle or if someone you love is struggling with anxiety. Somewhat Annoying
This book appears to be only useful for either young people or the radically uniformed person. The author grinds in the obvious to an irritating degree. This book went into several hours of repeating stories people who had worried themselves nearly to death by various problems then *poof* 'stopped worrying and started living'
The solution offered was simply 'ignore it through getting busy' which is an instinctual response for most people. There is no actual 'technique' or 'method' recommended other than "go read your bible and pray to Jesus" repeated in several sections advocating one should primarily become religious for stress control.
The piece on dealing with criticism appeared to be written for the individual who becomes easily wounded by it, yet still gave no actual 'techique' to stop the problem. Rather than recommending methods of 'self diagonstic' to locate the cause of 'why' it is such an issue that keeps coming at them, the author implies just ignoring it, when it's clearly not that simple, particularly if it costs a person his job or damages wellbeing.
So if you're looking for a new method & actual technique to change your reality enough to control stress & worry, i recommend looking into the subject of quantum physics & Law of Attraction.

Excellent Read
I really enjoyed this audio book. I discovered it at a time of need. The reader, Andrew MacMillan is awesome. Sometimes when I listen to audio books the information is excellent, but the reader is too monotone. But Andrew did an exceptional job with this book. I am looking for other books read by him because his voice is so soothing.
Although most of the examples cited in the book are from a different era, I fully understood the message. It does not make a difference whether it happened during the first century or current, worry is a constant no matter when you live(d).
I was able to take the information, use the examples, and apply them to my situation.
However, this is not something you read once and then put down. You have to listen to it periodically. With everything else in life, we need reminders. This is no exception. I keep the book on my iPod and refresh my thoughts. In fact, I have specific areas that I have pinpointed that I like to listen to again and again.
I also shared the book with my husband and he thought it was excellent as well.
Also, as an educator, I think we should share this type of information with our teenagers. They need to learn how to cope with worry at an early age. I think it is important that we train them how to handle worry before they become adults.

What I've learned
1. Live one day after another. Tomorrow's worries are for tomorrow.
2. The present is all we got - it's the only time where we're in control. The past is gone and the future is unpredictable.
3. Get all the facts - really understand what you're worried about, then make a call and take action.
4. Get busy doing meaningful work. Fill your mind and leave no space for worrying.
5. Accept the inevitable - It is so, it cannot be otherwise.
5.1. When you stop fighting against the inevitable, you free yourself to focus on what really matters.
6. Concern = awareness of the problem
7. Worry = anxiety and loss of control
8. Count your blessings, not your worries - be grateful
9. You'll always have the power to get the best out of your circumstances. Always.
10. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
I loved Dale's humility when he wrote that he isn't reinventing anything at all in this book. He's just giving new words to ancient wisdom. The knowledge in this book reminds me a lot of stoicism.
I wonder how Dale Carnegie would approach anxiety in today's society. I'd definitely buy this book.

Sound Advise
You know when I first started reading this book, it seemed kind of dated to me, like advise from a 1950's doctor. But as I got deeper into the book, things started sinking in and a realized the context of this book is timeless. I most enjoyed some of the stories about how some of the greatest most powerful people dealt with some real trying situations. Good and bad things happen to everyone. How we are able to cope with them determines our general happiness in life. If I catch myself starting to worry about things, I read the book again and it helps me deal with life and renews my confidence that everything will be ok. There are real tools in this book. If worrying has caused you even a slight bit of unhappiness I would recommend this book. I imagine people have probably paid alot of money just to learn some of the lessons in this book.

This is A must listen for anyone wtih worry
I have long been on this path of self development and I am not new to Dale Carnegie's work. For some reason I had not even heard of this book until now.
The book is a typical Dale Carnegie book and gleams from experience. There is so much content in this book, a lot of it is common sense, but how many of us use common sense.
If you are looking for a book that gives you strategies to use then this is a book could have been written in modern times. I doubt it will go out of flavor any time soon

My brother recommended this book for me at a time when I was down with a lot of problems and was worrying everyday. After listening to this book on my iphone and to all the problems that other people were having and still they found a way to move on with their lifes. It helped me me pull through and learn to accept my situation. Therefore, I was able to pull myself through and now I have a very good job and I am successful with my kids and looking forward to a great year.
