It is nice to see another story in this universe, but it lacked some of the aspects established in its progenitor series. Also, the protagonist seems to lack any confidence or drive, often rambling naive statements, while claiming to be a soldier, without exhibiting any signs of training or awareness that a soldier must sometimes kill. Emma is generally unlikeable and is consistently unaware of things staring her in the face. This story was well written, but also painful to read/hear.
