thought it was ok until later in the story.

You lost me when you wrote an entire community of religious people as disgusting pedos and zealots. Religious people are just like everyone else there are some bad people out there but mostly people are good. The idea that an entire religious community is secretly waiting for their chance to enslave and rape children is just completely erroneous to me and took me right out of the story.
