Publisher's Summary

In this essential handbook - a blend of Rich Dad, Poor Dad and The Happiness Project - the cohost of the wildly popular InvestED podcast shares her yearlong journey learning to invest, as taught to her by her father, investor and best-selling author Phil Town.

Growing up, the words finance, savings, and portfolio made Danielle Town's eyes glaze over, and the thought of stocks and financial statements shut down her brain. The daughter of a successful investor and best-selling financial author of Rule #1, Phil Town, she spent most of her adult life avoiding investing - until she realized that her time-consuming career as a lawyer was making her feel anything but in control of her life or her money. Determined to regain her freedom, vote for her values with her money, and deal with her fear of the unpredictable stock market, she turned to her father, Phil, to help her take charge of her life and her future through Warren Buffett-style value investing. Over the course of a year, Danielle went from avoiding everything to do with the financial industrial complex to knowing exactly how and when to invest in wonderful companies.

In Invested, Danielle shows you how to do the same: how to take command of your own life and finances by choosing companies with missions that match your values, using the same gold-standard strategies that have catapulted Warren Buffet and Charlie Munger to the top of the Forbes 400. Avoiding complex math and obsolete financial models, she turns her father's investing knowledge into 12 easy-to-understand lessons.

In each chapter Danielle examines the investment strategies she mastered as her increasing know-how deepened the trust between her and her father. Throughout, she streamlines the process of making wise financial decisions and shows you just how easy - and profitable - investing can be.

Capturing a warm, charming, and down-to-earth give and take between a headstrong daughter and her mostly patient dad, Invested makes the complex world of investing simple, straightforward, and approachable and will help you formulate your own investment plan - and foster the confidence to put it into action. Supplemental enhancement PDF accompanies the audiobook.

Not bad, but misleading

The overall investing information given is good and very simple to understand. The story of the book to me was very uninteresting. Possibly because I could not relate in any way to what she was going through. Some of the most helpful parts of the book for me was her dad explaining things. If you are looking for a story narrative built into learning how to invest, then this book is for you. If you are just looking how to invest then this book is a lot of story filler and anecdotes.

All that being said my biggest issue with this book is her take away from everything. She says that she "asked a question to the universe" on how to invest and it answered her. Wrong she has a father who is a world renown investor who also teaches investing heavily. She didn't ask the universe she asked her father. She succeeded because she had a top investor holding her hand and guiding her on every single step. People would pay hundreds of dollars and hour just to sit down and talk with her father. Not to sound bitter but my point is that she was in a very beneficial position with her father and that played a very large roll. She really down plays that part a lot in the book.

Story telling and learning!

I love Danielle's take on her investing practice in the form of a story. I have read Phil Town's book, but Danielle is able to take it to the next level for people that haven't been interested in the investing world until now. She's opened the floodgates for me! #Audible1

Deceptive Subtitle

Really, Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger have little to do with this book, except that they are the godfather's of value investing, which is the style of investing Danielle and Phil are supposed to be teaching here. I say supposed to be teaching because if you're looking for a book to teach you about value investing, there are plenty of others out there that do a better job. Heck, Phil Town's Rule One Investing is one of them. If you'd like a book book about family dysfunction, career angst, and a long distance love affair, with some investing advice thrown in for good measure, then this is the book for you. Some judicious editing could have turned this into a better read as well. You could have made a drinking game out of some of Danielle's favourite phrases, they are used so frequently. I can't recommend this book.

Sooooo slow and unnecessarily drawn out 😩

Get to the point. 20 mins worth of information buried under boring, silver spoons life 101.

Easily my fav of 2018

As an aspiring investor this book provides a great anchor where it’s not a super long how-to. I relate a lot to Danielle’s current market aptitude, and even though Math likes me, the story in this book made full use of my emotions. From feeling inspired at the end, to laughing uncontrollably during Danielle’s first practice shares experience. I loved this book and the Top 15 investor books on Phil’s website are part of my 2019 goals. I’ll be adding this book to my yearly re-reads.

Benjamin Graham for Millenials

Danielle does a great job of breaking down value investing philosophies from the likes of Graham, Buffet, amd Munger in a modern, easy to read format. Great read!

Clarity is lost in audio.

She has a good story line, but hard to impossible to follow methods from an audio book. It would be much better as a physical book.

WORTHY!!!

This book is absolutely worthy of a wicked review!!! As someone who has listened to over 4000 hours of academic audiobooks, Danielle is not only a captivating author, she is a captivating narrator too!! Her real life style pulls you in, making you believe that's she's truly been in your position, asking the, seemingly stupid questions that you'd be afraid to ask for fear of looking and sounding, well, stupid. She is you... Looking for a worthy teacher to teach you something scary, Investing. You asked and the Universe has provided! I walk away with this knowledge, feeling more confident, secure and Trust for the Source and knowledge given. Thank you Universe for consistently providing 🙏 And thank you Danielle and Phil for stepping up and sharing!!!
