Publisher's Summary

The kids are the least of our worries.

Seriously. If that sounds blasphemous in a book for concerned parents and educators (and anyone, really, who worries about "kids these days"), then I am so glad you're here. If you have a kid, work with a kid, or love a kid, you will find something inspiring in this audiobook. Dare I say, game-changing.

These words were born from the hundreds of stories of kids, their families, and their support systems I was lucky to meet as I worked across Canada and the USA. Regardless of who I met or where I met them, the message was always the same: Our kids are okay only if those of us holding them are okay.

During the developmental years, schools and educators are the most significant connection point to almost every child on this continent. But are the educators okay? I believe that most of the great educators want to make a difference. Many tell me, however, that they are finding it more and more difficult these days to love what they do. I think it's time we did a better job of looking after them first. Plain and simple, this book is for the educators: our teachers, bus drivers, administrators, educational assistants, librarians, administrative assistants, and custodians. And anyone who leads, loves, and supports them.

Plus just for you, I recorded a little bonus chapter filled with thoughts and ideas about the future and our next steps in this journey to create a more connected world.

I am so grateful you are here to listen to these words.

Jody-Frickin'-Carrington!!

This book has spoken to my soul. Listening to Jody speak about and explain her words has felt like we're across the table from one another and she is speaking to me directly and that she is looking into my eyes and saying, "I go you sweet educator". Definitely going to listen to it again and again! Thank you Jody!

More relevant and inspirational that imaginable

Listening to Dr Jody Carrington read her book has been the most powerful, heartfelt, inspiring read I have had in my adult life. It came to me just at the right time. I'm Mommy to 4 babes (the last 2 being twins) and just returning after a 2 year leave to my teaching career as an à la carte French teacher in Southern Ontario. I can tell you I have been overwhelmed by my new daily juggle, rediscovering my passion for "teaching" but maybe discovering that my passion lies more in "connection making" then the pedagogy of it all.
I love the way Dr Jody Carrington breaks everything down into manageable chunks and makes the impossible seem like just maybe we can make those significant differences. She has me in belly laughs one minute to blurry eyes need to pull the car over tears the next. I truly miss hearing her voice on my drives and think I may just listen to the book again before starting another. It is most definitely a book that I will revisit chapters over and over again. I also would recommend getting a hard copy of the book as well might be helpful for reviewing. (or would the chapter reviews ever be made available to audible purchases in pdf format?!) I am shouting the praises of this book to anyone that will listen to me. As I walk down the halls of my school with my head up high and smiling to greet my peers and students and thinking in my head "What would Jody say or do?" and I say Jody because after listening to her read this book I would like to believe we would make the best friends! Thank you Dr Jody Carrington, I hope you read these reviews!

Can’t wait for the next book. 💞

Powerful read. A clear reminder that relationship is the driver of education and That it starts with connection. These words have the ability to reshape education if we can recognize and embrace societies responsibility to educators. They are the common thread in every success story.

Loved this Audio Book

I am not an educator but rather a parent who respects the work of those who spend their days with my kids. I actually didn't even know this book was guided towards educators I just knew if Dr. Jody wrote it it must be good and seeing g as I have struggled with a challanging child of my own thought just maybe I'd learn a thing or two about things I could do better and a parent.

I am so glad I grabbed the audio book to this as hearing Dr. Jody read her own words gave it a whole new dimension. I guess there was a reason my paper copy I purchased is still sitting in my brothers hands only 100kms from me several months after its release, it was so I would go to the audio version instead lol. I loved how she went off the paper at times and was simply true to herself. Dr. Jody thank you for being real to who you are!

I will take the words from this reading and just add them to my repitoure as I strive to be the best mama I can be and help guide not only my own children but all that I have the honor to encounter as a parent.

i say this is a great book for all who want to understand some little things we can do to help make this one amazing world for our children, it take a village to raise a child so lets all work together on this!

Truly a masterpiece!

Dr. Jody is probably one of the most inspiring women I’ve listened to (many times over) to date. If you have not had this experience, you absolutely must!
