À propos de cet audio

“I don’t just want to hear her laugh, I need to earn it. Every time I gain a little ground, I want more. I want to break out of the shade and back into her light. Without even realizing it, I’ve become addicted to it. To her.”

From the author of the genre-breaking international TikTok sensation Butcher & Blackbird comes the second book in the Ruinous Love Trilogy—a hate-to-love dark romantic comedy packed with danger, chaos, and heat.

Contract killer Lachlan Kane wants a quiet life working in his leather studio and forgetting all about his traumatic past. But when he botches a job for his boss’s biggest client, Lachlan knows he’ll never claw his way out of the underworld. At least, not until songbird Lark Montague offers him a deal: use his skills to hunt down a killer and she’ll find a way to secure his freedom. The catch? He has to marry her first.

And they can’t stand each other.

Indie singer-songwriter Lark is the sunshine and glitter that burns through every cloud and clings to every crevice that Lachlan Kane tries to hide inside. The surly older brother of her best friend’s soulmate, Lachlan thinks she’s just a privileged princess, but Lark has plenty of secrets hiding in the shadows of her bright light. With her formidable family in a tailspin and her best friend’s happiness on the line, she’s willing to make a vow to the man she’s determined to hate, no matter how tempting the broody assassin might be.

As Lachlan and Lark navigate the dark world that binds them together, it becomes impossible to discern their fake marriage from a real one. But it’s not just familiar dangers that haunt them.

There’s another phantom lurking on their doorstep.

And this one has come for blood.

The book was excellent and I laughed through 90% of it

But the narration... holy that is HOT! I have to wonder how many times the narrators got themselves off as they worked because the sexy sounds sounded very real.

Will listen again. 11/10 fully recommended

just make sure you don't listen in public or in your car. hahaha

I can’t recommend this book enough. It had me all over the place emotionally. I cried, I laughed, I cringed. I could not love these characters any more. And the spice 🥵 Brynne came to play with this!

Best Audio I’ve listened to

I love Brynne Weaver’s sense of humour! The story was great but the narration got a bit cringe with the laughter and the slow acoustic singing.

Great story

I'm really glad the author was able to pivot in the male narrator selection, I enjoyed the slower burn of book two! You have to ne patient for tge smut in this story, but it's worth the wait. I felt like it wasn't quite as gnarly as book one, which doesn't bother me one bit. I'm really looking forward to book 3 and how this trilogy wraps up.

Thanks for keeping audiobooks a safe space.

u can't get over how cute the couple are and the ups and downs are timed perfectly. I'm about to read the third book and I can't wait to read anything else that come from Brynne.

to cute

I think I would have loved this as much as Butcher and Blackbird if not for the female voice actor. Something about the cadence of her voice, idk, something felt off and a bit annoying fairly often. The nail in the coffin was having a character who is supposed to be a singer and not using a voice actor who is a great singer or switching out the voice actor for the singing parts. Lark singing in the audiobook was awful and took away from what should have been a beautiful moment.

Loved the make actors voice he pulled off Irish "batman" vibes very well.
Overall loved the story.

Not a fan of Samantha Brentmoor

I’m convinced the only way to read this book is in this format. The voice actors do an incredible job - the FMC voice is just so good. And the Irish accent… so much yes. I know there has been a lot of flack given for the laughing and other effects added, but I personally really enjoyed it as it felt more like a dramatization than a plain straight read. I also loved that when the FMC was speaking in the MMC pov you still heard her and not him doing her voice - and vice versa.
Story was okay too. I am enjoying this series and look forward to the next instalment

Amazing Narration

Loved the follow up to Butcher & Blackbird. Very sweet love story entwined with the dark humour.

Another winner by Brynne Weaver!

Both narrators were amazing and I loved how the audiobook was done. Definitely worth the credit!

Great Narrators!

I literally loved the first book and I’ve listened to it three times and this book just didn’t do it for me the same way the first book did. I don’t know if it was their narration or the storyline, but I found myself checking out at certain point says it just didn’t hold my Attention the same way the first book did. But let me tell you that Bryn Weaver shook my brain with the bonus chapter. I am honestly still shocked about what I listen to.
