Story
A masterpiece of satire, this classic has entertained and enlightened readers the world over with its sly and ironic portrayal of human life from the vantage point of Screwtape, a highly placed assistant to "Our Father Below". At once wildly comic, deadly serious, and strikingly original, C. S. Lewis gives us the correspondence of the worldly-wise old devil to his nephew Wormwood, a novice demon in charge of securing the damnation of an ordinary young man. The Screwtape Letters is the most engaging and humorous account of temptation - and triumph over it - ever written.

Story
C. S. Lewis's dazzling allegory about Heaven and Hell - and the chasm fixed between them - is one of his most brilliantly imaginative tales, where we discover that the gates of Hell are locked from the inside. In a dream, the narrator boards a bus on a drizzly afternoon in Hell and embarks on an incredible voyage to Heaven. Anyone in Hell is invited on board, and anyone may remain in Heaven if he or she so chooses. But do we really want to live in Heaven?

For many years an atheist, C. S. Lewis vividly describes the spiritual quest that convinced him of the truth and reality of Christianity, in his famous autobiography. "In the Trinity Term of 1929 I gave in, and admitted that God was God...perhaps the most dejected and reluctant convert in all England." Thus Lewis describes memorably the crisis of his conversion. Surprised by Joy reveals both that crisis and its momentous conclusion that would determine the shape of Lewis' entire life.

C.S. Lewis' famous work on the nature of love divides love into four categories: affection, friendship, eros and charity. The first three are loves which come naturally to the human race. Charity, however, the gift-love of God, is divine in its source and expression, and without the sweetening grace of this supernatural love, the natural loves become distorted and even dangerous.

On account of the superficial points of agreement between Islam and Christianity, many don't see how tremendously deep the divides between them really are, and fewer still have considered the evidence for each faith. How is jihad different from the Crusades? Can we know the life of Jesus as well as the life of Muhammad? What reason is there to believe in one faith over the other, and what difference can the Gospel really make?

Publisher's Summary
One of the most popular and beloved introductions to the concept of faith ever written, Mere Christianity has sold millions of copies worldwide.
This audiobook brings together C. S. Lewis' legendary radio broadcasts during the war years, in which he set out simply to "explain and defend the belief that has been common to nearly all Christians at all times."
Rejecting the boundaries that divide Christianity's many denominations, Mere Christianity provides an unequalled opportunity for believers and nonbelievers alike to absorb a powerful, rational case for the Christian faith.

Like a father holding your hand across a busy road
As a brand new Christian, coming off a life of atheism, I was searching for something to help ease me into uncharted waters. After some internet searching, I decided to give this a whirl. C.S Lewis is obviously brilliant and writes in a such a way that is even wildly relevant decades later. I am so grateful to him for creating such a wonderful book.

An Excellent Introduction
C.S Lewis has a brilliant mind, but if you delve into his more philosophical and complex works- I've tried many times to work my way through Miracles, but haven't managed to reach the end- it can be difficult for the casual reader or listener to make headway. None of that is a problem here however, as C.S Lewis puts his brilliant mind towards the unenviable task of communicating what Christianity is in a logical, relatable, accessible and understandable manner. Not so much for Christians already made, but for those who are curious and want to learn more about it.
Yet despite the challenge he measures up to it well, tackling questions like what is morality, why we can believe a solid one exists, why it points to the existence of a God or gods, and why the God of the Bible specifically makes sense (and this is just the first third of the book!), with apparent ease. More over, the chapters are all rather concise; something easy to take 10 minutes (sometimes less) to read on your own, and reflect on, so it's quite digestible.
Moreover, this audiobook version specifically is excellently done: Julian Rhind-Tutt reads in a steadying, reassuring and intelligent voice that carries that perfect note of introspection when he speaks. If it weren't for there being an actual recording of Lewis available at present, his voice to me would be the perfect one to represent Lewis. Before you know it, you find yourself drawn into the arguments he as Lewis' proxy presents to you the listener, and 10 to 20 minutes will go by before you know it.
So, whether you be a Christian looking for a good audiobook or not a Christian but wanting a clear and digestible way to explore it, this audiobook comes highly recommended. :)

CS Lewis message Is old but relevant to 21st-century and the narrator is very easy to listen too. Definitely challenges ones thinking in the areas of Christian behaviour I’m challenged to be a better person.
I personally liked his in depth style. With respect to Christianity there is no pressure in his books: challenges ones own views of the topics presented in the book.

well worth the read
Lewis had an ambitious project in a way, one not unique to him, but one he made a good effort at. often Christians struggle in presenting their cases, by getting bogged down with trying to justify denominational differences, and sometimes that is all the non Christian sees. Lewis rather tries to get at what is the core belief, why it matters, and speculating what it might mean. as such there is not a lot of stunningly new insights, many have been around for centuries, but he lays them out in a clear way, trying to leave the fluff out, as important as it might be once one has chosen a denmomination, but not at the start. language and style have changed since the forties, and some of what he says does not meet current sensibilities and thought, but it was written over 70 years ago, and I doubt if he were writing today it would be exactly the same. so expect some things you might not hear today, not everywhere, but they are there. and listen to the main principles that have been around almost 2,000 years

I enjoyed this book very much. Clear Christianity
First off, I must give Julian Rhind-Tutt's narration five stars. It was easy to understand his words due to excellent diction. Also, when a passionate, or emphasized, word or phrase was to be told, it was delivered very well, sometimes giving goosebumps.
As far as the author, I give C.S. Lewis high praise for the ease in which he explains every idea. No matter what the subject, he'll give an analogy that even the simplest of minds (like mine) will clearly understand. You'll finish listening to the sentence saying "That makes perfect sense."
I was once an atheist (as Lewis was) and this inspired my purchase of the book a while ago. I did not actually read/listen to it - thinking that our different denominations would come into ply - but my pastor gave it as a side-read earlier this month. So, I dove in and I found, despite our different denominations, Lewis explained the path to salvation clearly, with the highest common sense imaginable.

C.S. Lewis was a Britt, so it's only fitting to have a British narrator. The content was originally intended for radio, so listening flows naturally. The chapters are short too-- 10--20 minutes. A great starter!
