Publisher's Summary

2020 revised and expanded edition of Neanderthal Seeks Human and Neanderthal Marries Human from the Knitting in the City Series

Neanderthal Seeks Human, Book 1 in the Knitting in the City Series

There are three things you need to know about Janie Morris: 1) She is incapable of engaging in a conversation without volunteering TMTI (Too Much Trivial Information), especially when she is unnerved, 2) No one unnerves her more than Quinn Sullivan, and 3) She doesn't know how to knit.

After losing her boyfriend, apartment, and job in the same day, Janie Morris can't help wondering what new torment fate has in store.

To her utter mortification, Quinn Sullivan - aka Sir McHotpants - witnesses it all then keeps turning up like a pair of shoes you lust after but can't afford. The last thing she expects is for Quinn to make her an offer she can't refuse.

New York Times best-selling author Penny Reid’s debut novel!

Neanderthal Seeks Human is book 1 one in the Knitting in the City series. Each book is a standalone, contemporary romantic comedy novel, and follows the misadventures and exploits of seven friends in Chicago, all members of the same knitting group.

Neanderthal Marries Human, Book 1.5 in the Knitting in the City Series

There are three things you should know about Quinn Sullivan: 1) He is madly in love with Janie Morris, 2) He’s not above playing dirty to get what (or who) he wants, and 3) He doesn’t know how to knit.

After just five months of dating Janie, Quinn - former Wendell and unapologetic autocrat - is ready to propose marriage. In fact, he’s more than ready. If it were up to Quinn, he would efficiently propose, marry, and beget Janie with child all in the same day - thereby avoiding the drama and angst that accompanies the four stages of pre-matrimony: Engagement, meeting the parents, bachelor/bachelorette party, and overblown, superfluous wedding day traditions.

But Janie, much to Quinn’s dismay, tosses a wrench in his efficacious endeavors and challenges him to prove his devotion by going through the matrimonial motions, no matter how minute and mundane.

Will Quinn last until the wedding day? Or will he yield to his tyrant impulses?

This book is not a standalone. It is the sequel to Neanderthal Seeks Human, and is book #1.5 in the Knitting in the City series.

This relationship made my skin crawl

Power dynamic between the two main characters. What is one red flag after another. I tried to avoid judging a book until I have read the whole thing, but I could only make my way through the first and half of the second of this box set, and I simply can’t go further.

Couldn’t connect to the characters.

I know the main character was supposed to be oblivious to details that should have been obvious to most people, but I found MC’s inability to connect the dots frustrating rather than suspenseful. It took away from the story for me.

Cute, could do without male narrator

The story is cute, light and tells a story about a woman who is quirky -think 90s romcom story line -which I am here for. In 1.5 the male portions are narrated by a man and these bits are a bit hard to listen to. I would have kept the female reader for both. She seemed better able to convey the story’s emotions and nuances.

Best book ever

I have been listening to more murder true crime stuff to pass the time while I work but this one I felt might be a good pause from all the dark in those books on crime and omg I AM OBSESSED!!!!!!!

This is such a wonderful, funny and beautiful love story - but not just about love for another person but love for oneself!! I love love the narrator and the character. This is my favorite and if I can find more from the same author but with these characters- then this will be my new obsession since bridgerton 🤣🤣

Definitely worth the credit and read!! You will laugh out loud at work all by yourself - I promise (unless you are dead inside)!!!

Amazing

I laughed so hard. First time reading this author and I am going to move on to the next book and hope it’s as awesome and hilarious as this one was.
