Publisher's Summary
Your nervous system is you. All the thoughts, perceptions, moods, passions, and dreams that make you an active, sentient being are the work of this amazing network of cells. For many centuries, people knew this was true. But no one was sure how it happened. Now, thanks to the exciting new field of neuroscience, we can chart the workings of the brain and the rest of the nervous system in remarkable detail to explain how neurons, synapses, neurotransmitters, and other biological processes produce all the experiences of everyday life, in every stage of life.
From the spectacular growth of the brain in infancy to the act of learning a skill, falling in love, getting a joke, revising an opinion, or even forgetting a name, something very intriguing is going on behind the scenes.

unable to get the full value from the title as I do not know where to refer for the pictures of the brain structures the lecturer is referring to :-(

Not bad, but some criticisms
The parts of the lectures I appreciated:
1) when neurobiology was emphasized
2) studies were cited and explained
The parts of the lectures I found lacking:
1) when personal opinions about clinical matters were given even though the lecturer is not a clinician (and it shows in his comments)
2) the reliance on psychology to discuss the chapter headings instead of neurobiology
3) when photos and videos are referenced but not provided in the PDF (ie all the images and videos referenced in the course)
4) delving into scientific explanations for religious experiences - tacky and misses the point that there are some things that are outside of the realm of scientific exploration and reasoning

Excellent introduction to the topic
Fascinating! Excellent introduction to the topics. We are indeed trying to figure out who we are as human after all!
Have recommended the book to others.

This was a Great Course!
I'm just beginning to get into this field and will be starting school for Psychology in September. I find everything mentioned in the lectures very interesting. The presentation was very well performed, however unfortunate that I was unable to follow along with the videos and pictures. Personally, I will be listening to this on my way to work and school several time over.

enjoyed it
I definitely enjoyed this audio book. Who work in the medical field so a lot of the information was relevant to my job. I'm not sure how much someone who works outside of medicine or science would like it. I do have a few complaints though the 1st being that it's clearly adapted from some kind of video or in person lecture as the narrator at times referred to things that we obviously can't see just listening to the audio. The other complaint I have against it is that at times I think the Narration could be more concise and not elaborate quite so much on case examples. But over all I enjoyed it and would recommend it to others

Handel's religion well
When it came time to talk about religion you showed respect for everyone. I am a conservative Christian, meaning pro Trump and enjoyed every word. Thank you!

Abundantly informative
As a stroke survivor, I’m significantly better off now that I’ve been able to absorb the abundance of knowledge contained within this book. The material is very well presented and never unnecessarily dense.

A window into the brain
Most absorbing. It has given me an insight into how the brain functions. Symphonic and slick.

Great review of the current state of neuroscience
I enjoyed this title. It spans a range of important topics in neuroscience, like child development, emotions and cognition. A great feature is that the presenter discusses each topoc in terms of observation, neural circuits and Molecular biology.

Painful
While the information within is highly valuablr, it is an absolute slog to get through. The narrator (who is presenting to an audience rather than recording for an audiobook format) is uncharismatic, speeds through his sentences, and takes painfully long pauses. I listen at 1.3x speed and the pauses are still pretty awful. Further, the only way to survive this audio is of you don't mind "um" between every other word. It's unfortunate because 80 to 90% of the issue can be easily solved through editing, but they chose not to do so and left the recordings raw. I honestly don't think I can finish this one, ultimately.

Hated school, loved this!
Maybe because I hate sitting and listening to lectures might be why this was so wonderful to walk, hike and listen. Speaker was awesome, subject matter fascinating!!!
