Not sure!

I am a huge fan of Dana K. White.

I read her other 2 books multiple times, I follow her on YouTube and I am also taking her course "Take your house back" for a second year in a row.

Which is why I am not sure how many stars I want to give this book!

Because it is FULL of super good tips. If you've struggled with keeping your house under control, it IS a good book, and Dana is your woman!

BUT, as someone who like I said, consumed all her content, I did not get anything new from this book.

I would highly suggest to buy her other 2 books, who covers everything even more and in more depth. If you read them already, there are not many tips here new for you.

If you want to offer it as a gift: YES! Super good book!

Great motivation and will make you laugh!

A wonderful mix of Dana’s tested strategies, great humour and helpful tips to motivate you to make room in your space to live! I was very entertained and loved hearing her strategies in a different way. This coming from someone who has listened to both Dana’s other books, watches her YouTube videos and listens to her weekly podcasts.

Helpful book for cleaning and organizing your home in a simple way

I am a big Dana K. White fan and own both of her other books so was excited to hear that she had a new book coming out, Organizing For the Rest of Us. After preordering the audio version,
I received an advance copy of the book to review.

Organizing For the Rest of Us contains 100 strategies that walk the reader through how to have an organized and clean home. The first several strategies help the reader see that too much stuff and things not making it back to their home (procrasticlutter) must be dealt with so that when you clean your home, you can actually just clean and not spend hours picking it up first. The next section of strategies walk the reader through how to declutter and make progress in even short five minutes decluttering sessions (hooray for not emptying a whole shelf or dresser to declutter). The strategies found in part three all involve the “container concept.” Everything that holds things is a container. How many pens can you keep? As many as will fit in your pen holder. How many books should be your limit? As many as will fit on your bookshelf. Even the home itself is a container, determining how much furniture can comfortably fit. Parts four through nine focus on specific areas of cleaning and organizing - cleaning routines, kitchens, bathrooms, living areas, laundry, and my personal favorite “procrastination station elimination” (strategies to help you to do a task right not and quit procrastinating). The final section includes a few strategies for dealing with sentimental clutter.

Because this book is written in short and easy to digest and implement strategies, it is a great resource for anyone needing help getting started with cleaning and decluttering. People that are not naturally tidy will enjoy Dana’s relatable tips with her great sense of humor sprinkled in. This book would be best for people new to Dana K. White and have not read her other two books or for someone wanting a quick refresher on her tips for getting your house under control and keeping it that way.

Overall, I enjoyed reading the book and feel refreshed to tackle some of the problem areas of my home.

Great advice, but repeats from previous two books

I really love this author and how she narrates her books. Written and read like a straight-forward but sympathetic friend.
If you are the type of person who wants a cliff notes version of her first two books, or benefit from having the same information repeated to you in a different way, this book is fantastic.
If you have already read her first two books, and your brain starts to tune out what you hear when you recognize repeated information, skip this book.

Finally, someone who understands!!!

I have always felt like everyone has their stuff together but me. I can do complicated things but laundry... dishes??? Impossible!

Trying to organize is a disaster, it always looks worse than when I started. I always thought I had a motivation problem (I have ADHD), but Dana enlightened me. I have too much stuff!

I have preordered the Audiobook and received an advance print copy as part of the launch team. It was an amazing read!

Dana made me feel like I was not failing at this whole adulting thing, and that there are so many others like me out there. Her writing has just enough tough love to get you going and not get distracted mixed with the compassion of someone who has been where I am right now. She gets it!

Her book is to the point (unlike my review...). The strategies are short, which makes it easier to go back to review when you are working in a certain area of your home. She is also a step ahead, knowing what you probably already tried (because she tried it too), and will remind you that it doesn't work so you don't try to keep doing the same thing that is already not working for you (keep piles, I am talking about you).

There is a tip in one of the strategies with a colander and aluminum foil (I will keep it vague so I don't spoil it) that blew my mind.

I cried at the "Final Thoughts" at the end of the book. She
KNOWS what I am going through, she described me and what I feel. It is hard work but I can't wait to be on the other side, once I find and start living under my clutter threshold.

Great book! I love it when the author reads their own book.

I pre-ordered this book on Audible and the author was kind enough to send a PDF copy in advance to read. I have Dana’s first two books on Audible and love that the author is the one actually reading the book. I think she makes even boring topics interesting with her choice of words and phrases (Hogwash. Poppycock. Malarky. Baloney).

What I appreciate most is that she’s real. Her 5 step process and fact based questions feel like a conversation between one cluttered minded person (her) to another (me). There are no magic tricks to keep your house decluttered. You just get started.
“This supply list will be the unfanciest decluttering supply list you will see anywhere, but the lack of fanciness is exactly why it works. Fancy tends to equal complicated.”
Dana taught me to declutter without making a bigger mess and do the easy stuff first. I get easily overwhelmed if I try to pull all my clothes out of the closet at once.
I like the audiobooks because I can listen while I declutter. It motivates me and keeps me on task.

Procrasta-clutter - It's a Thing!

To be fair, I'm a little biased. I found Dana K White on YouTube almost 18 months ago and I've been following her ever since. I love her!

As soon as I saw Dana had a new book coming out, I pre-ordered it. Lucky me, I was chosen to receive an advance copy to review! Get the book - it's another win!

I struggle with messiness. I collect interesting things, sadly, I find everything interesting, and my house shows it. I had moved into my forever home about 9 months earlier and I still had 21 boxes in my living room when I first found Dana. We won't talk about the rest of the house. Her strategies made sense to me, no hard (or ridiculous) questions, just easy to follow strategies.

I got started on the boxes in the living room. I started with the easy stuff. When I was finished, I had 12 boxes to donate, and no boxes in the living room. Sometime in the process I found her audiobook Declutter at the Speed of Life. Game changer! Am I finished with my house? No. But I'm farther along than I was, and I'm still working on it. That's the thing - I'm still working on it and it's getting better all the time. Last fall when was out of state, had an emergency at my house, and a friend and her husband had to go into my house without notice, I wasn't horrified by the idea. Thank you for that, Dana.
Get the book.

LOVE Dana <3

I have listened and re-listen the kindle and audible version of her other books. This one is the perfect quick reminder, I will most certainly listen to it over and over again while cleaning. If it's your first time encountering the author and your house is a complete disaster, I would say maybe listen to her two other book first(or after but I think the full books would be more helpful to start from scratch) this is a good book to remember some of the strategies gathered through her other books, blog and podcast. I just think she is wonderful and super funny, usually a motivating thing when everything in your house is an overwhelming chaos and you feel no one on earth is like you. You are not alone <3

Not about organizing at all. It's a decluttering book just like her other 2 books. Nothing new

Last organizing book I'll ever need!!!

I received an advanced copy of Organizing for the Rest of Us as part of the launch team. I have followed Dana for a little over a year and I knew instantly after reading her first book that her and I were the same in so many ways. I have used Dana's decluttering strategies to get out from under the piles and mess that just kept accumulating in my home no matter how many times I spent all day cleaning it. If you follow Dana through her podcast or You Tube videos you will often hear her say something that is so good you will want to remember it, but most likely won't because people are forgetful. This book is FULL of those golden nuggets that she mentions in her every day decluttering conversations with her audience. They are all written out with explanations and reasoning that makes sense to those of us who just can't seem to naturally keep a tidy home. There is brand new information that I hadn't learned from her over the last year as well. If you're looking for quick, no-mess wins in getting your home under control once and for all, this is the book for you!

It's okay

This was okay at best. I found some of the information contradictory and most of it is repetitive from other cleaning/organization gurus. I didn't care for the tone of the narration, sometimes condescending. And using the word "y'all" was annoying.
