À propos de cet audio

After killer Shelia Eddy pled guilty to first-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison and Rachel Shoaf was sentenced to thirty years for second-degree murder, family, friends, investigators, and other key sources reveal the facts you would have learned if the case had gone to trial.

Including specific details drawn from Rachel's confession, Pretty Little Killers looks at the crime through the eyes of the victim and killers, providing intimate testimony from the pages of Rachel's personal journal, Skylar's diary and school papers, and court records. Daleen Berry and Geoffrey C. Fuller examine all this, including previously unreported details about Rachel and Shelia's rumored lesbian relationship, and explain why more than one investigator believes that Skylar's murder was a thrill kill. Most important, Pretty Little Killers provides a satisfying answer to Skylar's final question: "Why?"

I raised a teenage girl. I would like to think that she could have recognized nightmarishly toxic friendships.. but I'm not 100% sure. The well-loved, upper-middle-class West Virginia girls in this exposé - as described by Investigative Journalists Daleen Berry & Geoffrey C. Fuller - are disturbingly *normal*. By exploring text chains, Social Media posts, diary entries, and witness testimony, they paint a picture of a trio of bitchy, violent, and drug-abusing High School girls: maybe a little bit over-the-top wild/disciplinary problems but identical to kids we all knew when we were growing up. This teenager catfight murder could have happened literally anywhere.

As to presentation: I found reader Pam Ward's performance professional but unspectacular. Attention to detail and solid sound quality couldn't quite make up for her frankly annoying natural marmish timbre & lisping cadence. She sounds like a librarian lecturing kids to "please try to keep your voices down. Continue." The recording is "average" overall.

Altogether, 'Pretty Little Killers: The Truth Behind The Savage Murder of Skylar Neese' rates 7.5 stars out of 10. It was a great find on the 'Plus' menu.. potentially even worth a Credit to anyone fascinated by inexplicable and maybe a little too-close-to-home violent crime.

Sehr anstrengend

This is a book about a real thing written as if it were a fictional book. It doesn’t help that the author honest to God says “parents always know better than their children” multiple times throughout, which is just not at all true nor helpful. The author is often patronizing, even as she does sometimes do a good job getting into a teen girl’s head and relating the thoughts she thinks they may have had.

It is an interesting way to experience this story, but I don’t know if it’s the best way.

Sensationalized and assuming, occasionally chiding
