The narrator is as good as always.

The storyline actually interesting.

Sometimes the plot line could go a bit quicker. I do like the readout of stats all the time. In a way, but it seems a bit much.

I’d personally like to see the book continuing with more world base building. Closer integration with friends and party like structures, the line character shtick is restrictive as it essentially shuts off the ability to have inter character chatter to break up the monotony and drive the story ahead. There’s already some of that with the god and jake but there needs to be a bit more during fights etc.

Also, the bird not being able to communicate in a way that he can understand in words is annoying… there’s only so many times you want to listen to “scree “

This series so far looks like it has extreme potential. Lots of side story’s and a universe of possibilities to do.

I’d suggest give the main character a handicap then have him work to exploit the handicap and turn it to his advantage. Otherwise progressively getting stronger starts to become meaningless.

Best I’ve listened to in awhile.

Another fantastic book by Zogarth, and performance by Travis Baldree.

Van nit wait for the next book and to find out how the treasure hunt goes.

Great series.

It absolutely bops, bangs, slaps and our great lord and savior Travis Baldree has yet again blessed us unworthy mortals with his perfection in performance

Another banger

Ok, this was a bit weird. There are so many good and bad things about this book.
I want to start with the most annoying part to get it out of the way. Please cut out the boooooms and diiiings. I'm not sure if it's the actual book or the narrator but it's pretty annoying. I would hate to have a long diiiiing like that in a game for every notification.
Anyway, now to the better parts. I feel like the author has the skill to do much more of it than he was able to show so far. The tensions in Jake's encounters with other humans (like the sultan) are nicely done with just the right amount of drag and uncertainty. Personally, I would love to get more of that than the overly extended fight scenes. After a couple of minutes of arrows and dodges my brain just decides to decouple from the story and I find myself 10 minutes in, still in the same fight, realizing I've been thinking about other stuff the whole time. No, I don't have adhd. I just don't find it interesting to follow every punch and arrow for 10 minutes straight.
Another thing is that I need to constantly adjust my expectations of Jake's moral values. I do get some decisions while others are a bit too far out of my capacity to relate to. For example Villy is a likeable character but destroying planets is not something I can accept no matter what half assed explanation he offers. So it feels like a cold bucket of water in my face out of nowhere in the middle of a really compelling story. Anyway, I enjoyed listening to it and I'll definitely buy the next one but I wish it didn't break the spell through these minor annoyances.

So much potential

Love this series, it took a while to get used to some of the repetitive system menu stuff but still great.

Excellent!
