Publisher's Summary
Another exciting story in the number-one New York Times best-selling series! The Republic Fair is coming! Visitors from all over the galaxy are traveling to the planet Valo for a massive, awe-inspiring festival celebrating the Republic. While his fellow Valons prepare for the fair, Jedi Padawan Ram Jomaram is hiding out in his favorite place: a dingy garage filled with mechanical parts and tools. But when a security alarm goes off on the nearby hilltop nicknamed Crashpoint Peak, he ventures out with his trusty droid V-18 to investigate. There he discovers that someone has knocked out Valo's communications tower - a frightening sign that Valo, and the Republic Fair, are in danger. Sure enough, as Ram races to warn the Jedi, the dreaded Nihil unleash a surprise attack! It's up to Ram to face down the enemy at Crashpoint Tower and send a call for help to the Republic. Luckily, he's about to get some assistance from unexpected new friend....

Worst Star Wars narrator from the Disney era.
Every single Star Wars audio-book from the Disney era has been extremely high quality, some narrators better than others... but this is such a huge drop in quality... I understand it's supposed to be for kids but this is really rough... I also understand Todd Haberkorn is an anime voice actor, so he was probably hired to do the anime voice- but it is so jarringly bad. It almost feels like satire. That's not mentioning the quality of the voice recording which is abysmal... his microphone peaks on almost every single sentence... Did he record this on his laptop microphone? I honestly feel like that's the only possibility with how bad it sounds. His anime style of reading the book like a script is like nails on a chalkboard... he enunciates and emphasizes all the wrong words, I literally hate this and wish I could refund it. Todd Haberkorn if you ever read this, I want you to know I've enjoyed every single Star Wars audio book up until now and I've suffered through alot of horrible things in my life but nothing as bad as this reading you have done.

A bare minimum production.
While the narrator and story were mostly fine, having listened to many canon Star Wars audiobooks recently, the absolute, complete lack of music and sound effects really drags this audiobook down into quite the disappointing experience. The one previously released earlier this year: A Test of Courage is leagues better in all aspects. Really hope this isn’t the standard going forward with the shorter ones considering how amazing and immersive the YA and Adult Star Wars audiobooks are.

Decent all-ages story disappointingly perfomed.
Just looking at the story itself, it isn't bad for what it is; that being a side story aimed at a younger audience than The Rising Storm, which this story takes place alongside.
However, I was expecting more varied voice acting and sound effects, like the ones in other Star Wars audiobooks (like The Rising Storm, the Thrawn books, and Master and Apprentice) but those weren't included here.

Listen if you’re a completionist.
If you’re like me and just have to make sure you read everything in the High Republic Era, it’s a quick book that only took me two days to listen to. The story is very simple and nothing reeeeally happens that plays into the larger story, but it does offer some characters updates that you encounter in The Rising Storm.

Got a few hours to spare?
If you got a few hours to spare, relax and listen to this fun story set in the High Republic era. I really like all the new and original characters created for these stories. A refreshing addition to Star Wars lore.

Sputter, stutter, mutter…dudder.
The story is not as well written as other YA books in the High Republic series. Additionally, the voice actor’s performance is difficult to engage with. I kept getting distracted. Thankfully, I had already read The Rising Storm so I was already familiar with quite a bit of this story.

Inconsequential
Honestly, thank goodness it was short because these one-off high republic novels are really dragging on. Nothing in this story matters. Read it if you want just to expand on characters/lore.

Pretty good story
Skewed a little young for me, but I still enjoyed it. Recommend this one to all Star Wars fans.

It was alright
so if you read the comics and have read 'Rising Storm' you are definitely going go enjoy this for what it is. as a stand alone I don't think it holds up but it is a fun read.
