Heart Stopping, Riveting, Breathtaking ~ Closure

Heart Stopping, Riveting, Breathtaking ~ Closure

Normally I read the ebook version first, but this time I listened to the audiobook first.

I think this was the best way for me to get closure with the Slay series and the Fixed series. So many small tributaries ran between them, as they should.

During the Slay series I think the issue that had me on the edge always was will Celia give up Hudson to Edward. She never wavered, then there was a moment when I thought she was going to fold and hand over Hudson on a sliver platter and for that moment I slipped back to not liking her, but at the end when I heard the deal and the conversation between Hudson & Edward, I knew that Celia had moved from being a dragon to a phoenix and had Risen as the woman she was always meant to be.

So now I have the closure I needed not just from the Slay series but from the last book of the Fixed series.

It is time to move in a new direction. Closure is good!

This book and the series as a whole is deserving of about 100 stars, but I only have 5 to give. Thank you Laurelin Paige for this crazy ride, it's been worth every swear word, every tear and every sigh.

Absolutely Fantastic!!!

Let me just say, to own the Slay series on audible is so worth the money and hours I was plugged in and listened to the most fantastic series of Laurelin Paige I have ever listened to. The story is complete, fully fleshed out, so very interesting, and the narrators were perfect and brought everything to my attention and held me mesmerized from the first word to last. If you have found Hudson and Celia fascinating from previous stories then you definitely need the Slay series to give you completion. So kudos Laurelin this series went over the top!

Really good like book one. Throw book 3 out.

I wish there could have been more peace for Celia as far as Hudson’s wife. And I wish Celia would have bitch slapped her.

Rising

Wow, I dont even know where to begin. I suppose with the standing ovation that they deserve 👏👏👏

This series had me running the gamut of thoughts, opinions and emotions throughout all 4 books. Each one pulled at my heart and ripped me apart then put me back together... much like the characters themselves. Each book pushed and pulled at me.

The narrators were fantastic as always, and even though this is the first books I've read of Larielin Paige, they definitely won't be the last!

Very satisfying conclusion

For me, the narration above all else can make or break an audiobook. The narration by Wolfe and York is superb here. They hit the emotional notes perfectly, never going overly dramatic or too flat with their vocal interpretations.
The sex scenes are steamy and hot, and at turns tender and kinky. I appreciated the author’s unusual take on a D/s relationship: it’s more psychological than physical (though it still has enough of the typical features, such as spankings, to my delight). I was VERY turned on by the back and forth, push and pull power dynamic between Celia and Edward.
I especially loved the times (in this and the previous books) when Celia followed through with walking away from Edward or rejecting him when she needed to assert herself. This gives the story real stakes. Nothing ruins an erotic story more than when the heroine claims to be justifiably angry with her love interest, threatens to leave or not sleep with him, but then acts like a doormat because she can’t resist his huge cock. There is some of this in the series, but the author doesn’t overuse it. For some reason, many romance authors repeatedly overuse this tired device (“My body can’t ever resist this alpha male no matter how badly he treats me”) under the misguided assumption that it adds sexual titillation. In reality, it reads as trite, tired, and boring. It ends up undercutting their supposedly “feisty” heroine’s character. Kudos to Laurelin Paige for avoiding overuse of this cliché. Instead she created an interesting, complicated heroine whose arc unfolds in engaging ways over the four books.
The overall dramatic narrative, plot, and character development are well done for the genre. Unlike a lot of erotica, the prose here isn’t too overwrought and rarely elicited cringes or eye rolls out of me.
If you’re looking for a mildly dark erotic series with plenty of hot sex scenes (especially in Books 2-4) and a satisfying HEA, I highly recommend this one.

Brilliant Conclusion

To the series🙌🏽🎉♥️
I have learned so much from these series? It’s well put together and how it unraveled through bringing us to this ending was beautiful. I always felt bad for Celia but getting to know her background and what she went through was sad, and how we got to know the real her was beautiful.
Edward was the perfect fit for Celia. He also has his flaws and it felt so real how they both struggled to face their problems and feelings and real true emotions buried underneath, it was relatable In different ways. I have to say I love these series so much; the psychological part of it as always Laurilen Paige delivered brilliantly. I have so much to say but for now this is my review.
I love both narration it’s just amazing! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Great Conclusion

I have had mixed feelings about this series in spite of the fact that I couldn’t put it down. I,can’t understand the reasoning that created the dynamics of a sadist and a a submissive. The author had each story progress in the series as we watched Edward and Celia growth and change in spite of both of their history. Excellently done, I highly recommend this series!

INSANE INTENSE, EPIC & ABSOLUTELY AWESOME

I’ve just finished the fourth book in this Slay Quartet series and wow, it’s been an intense, insane, rollercoaster ride with sheer dips, sharp curves, treacherous 90 degree turns and emotional loops that’s sure to get your pulse pounding. And, as these enemies push n pull one another’s thresholds, they slowly learn each other’s weaknesses, emotional boundaries, sexual desires and limits. But it also brings up some dark secrets too.

This is a multi-layered intense story as their sizzling chemistry sparks, smoulders and smokes in an arranged marriage that certainly doesn’t rush to the HEA and I’m so glad I waited until all four books were available because the cliffhangers were brutal. I lost a lot of sleep because I just didn’t want to stop listening to this addictive story. It was hard-won steps forward leading to shocking surprises and many steps back. It was brutal moves and manipulations leading to emotional clashes and confrontations. It was a dark and deliciously tense storyline. It was kinky.. and definitely h.h.hot. And it was a tense highly-charged rollercoaster.

Both characters had impenetrable armour protecting them from feeling.. both were complex initially cruel individuals.. both had tightly-held secrets which were slowly revealed.. and both were absolutely perfect for each other after their long battle and character growths. In the first book, told from the Celia’s PoV, Edward is a sexy, dark anti-hero and is absolutely unapologetically despicable - but thankfully we get to hear his POV in the other three books and there’s good character growth which was good. Awesome narration brought the stings and the passion, the twisted colorful characters, the levels and layers, the sour and the sweet, the lust and the love.. and all the weaves in the well-written chapters to life.

Worth a credit? This outstanding, complex, epic Quartet would absolutely definitely be worth 4 credits. but yay 2 are free with Escape so even better ;)

Where is dominant Edward?

The story was good but I missed Edwards dominance. I wish it had been slightly different but I liked how Laurelin wrapped up the story.

I loved the series!

This was the perfect ending to Edward and Celia’s love story. I thoroughly enjoyed each book with its slow but fulfilling build to the end. It was so fitting be part of the Fixed saga as well. Thank you Laurelin, I look forward to more.
