Publisher's Summary

Rescuers. Avengers. Thieves. Spies.

The life of a knight mage is never easy, but sometimes the gods smile on you and grant you an errand of incredible complexity...without regards to casualties.

When Tyndal and Rondal, journeymen wizards and knights errant, travel to southern Alshar to rescue a helpless boy and his mother, it sets in motion a series of events that will shake the foundations of the Five Duchies! While they are beginning their quest against the vast criminal gang known as the Brotherhood of the Rat, the two knights encounter the Cats of Enultramar, a family of shadowmagi (masters of shadow, illusion, and obfuscation) and high-class thieves who help them discover a plot to attack the rich lands and prosperous people of Alshar, from the Wilderlands to the Great Bay...and only Rondal and Tyndal can stop them.

From thugs and thieves to irate Censors of Magic to dragons and undead, the intrepid pair face the challenges of a new land and an old enemy. For when a new, powerful threat in the form of the Necromancer of Olum Seheri looms against them, the brave young knights magi can only hope to defeat it with the help of a...shadowmage!

Includes special bonus story The Spellmonger's Yule!

Always a great story

I completely enjoy this series. I hope the next edition is out soon. I'll have to listen elsewhere until then.

5 premature reviews?

I love this series but there are five reviews already on a title that has only been out for a few hours and the running time for this publication is 24+ hours. I've loved this series so far as well as the performance. I can't understand putting a negative review on something you've yet to experience. Just like the bedroom if you're reviewing prematurely you're probably the one who deserves the bad rating and not the book.

Add the novellas...

First, the praise.
I enjoyed this installment in the series FAR more than Enchanter, that's for sure... and, actually, I believe it restored some of my faith in the author's work.
However, more and more, I've been finding myself frustrated with these books, because there are certain events in the story that have already taken place, which the author only ever hints at (such as the Spellmonger's wedding, and honeymoon, etc.). He simply insinuates that the things which transpired, therein, were important, instead of actually coming right out and explaining what those things were.
The attached novella at the end of this installment only added to my frustration, because I quickly realized that the real reason I (as an Audible listener) was continuing to trudge through this story in ignorance was likely because the author had already written the events down, in similar novella fashion, and merely hadn't recorded them as audio books... turns out, I was correct--though I probably should have looked up the author's information (outside of Audible) far sooner.
Now, I'm not necessarily trying to be a sour sport or anything, but this creates a fairly big gap in knowledge, for those off us who have little time to sit down with a paperback, or e-book, and actually read. So, I suppose, what I'm really asking for is this... to anyone willing to read this simple review (and, more specifically, to those who might have the power to do something about it) please, for the love of the gods, find a way to ADD THE NOVELLAS! Thank you, for your consideration.

Need more Minalan!

As I love Pentandra, Rondal, and Tyndal very much they are not the ones I come back for in each book and having them back to back after all that happened last with Minalan almost made me lose interest in the series altogether. Thankfully I pushed through Pentandras book which had its moments near the end that intrigued me and then to Rondal and Tyndals adventure which I enjoyed a lot more than the last but still was craving Minalan in the end. Then before you know it I was coming to the end and BAM you added "The Spellmongers Yule" as a bonus and boy did that change everything. the amount of info I learn in those last five hours completely blew my mind and I'm beyond excited for what's next (as long as its following Minalan). Great addition to the series overall.

Just keeps getting better,

So much going on! Will Alya come back, she must. It was good to see the boys were busy. This is a book you will listen over and over, love the series. Oh, and Mr. Lee has become The Spellmonger. These books are fun, charming and you become a part of the story. Enjoy, we sure do.

I can't get enough of this series!

This book focuses on the former apprentices. I was initially disappointed that it wasn't about the Spellmonger but then I was swept away. It's amazing how easily the author takes secondary characters and develops them into primary characters. Loved it and loved how well it ties into the storyline. John Lee's narration is perfect as always. I suspect people would pay him to read aloud their grocery lists.

Had enough

Sorry guys. I know some of you really like this series, but I’ve had enough. I loved the first four books, but since then it’s been downhill. It’s turned into something like between a history lesson and a soap opera. The characters haven’t developed in the last 4 books at all, and now they all seem to be both shallow and flippant. There are some good moments, but the majority of the hours I spend listening to this, I’m either having difficulty paying attention, or bored out of my mind. John Lee has a great voice that’s easy to listen to, but there’s hardly any variation between characters, so sometimes you don’t know who’s speaking.

If you really loved each of the last 3 books, then you’ll probably love this one, too. It’s just not for me now while there are plenty of other great series and new authors to explore.

Awesome stories

This product comes with the main book and a short story afterwards. I enjoyed the slight romance in this book more than some of the previous romances introduced. The story was a perfect mix of world building, character building, and action. The worst part of The Spellmonger series is waiting on the next one to release on audible.

As for the short story, it’s a world changer. I never thought a 4-5 hour long story could change the world he has been building so much. Terry has an amazing imagination and I cannot wait for more.

Amazing

I've read each book I cannot wait for the next... Fortunately Terry does not make us wait long. There is much to be said about that.

good continuation of the series

It was fun to see how the two apprentice accomplished everything but the best part was the end when we go back to the main characters perspective and learn about the history of the world. excited to see where the series goes from here.

Not too bad but not as good as the others.

This was another viewpoint of the last few books. it had some good points but nowhere near as exciting or deep in character detail as some of the other books in the series.
