About this listen

Watch Silo, the Apple TV+ series based on the bestselling Silo Saga!

The second volume in the New York Times bestselling Silo series. Hugh Howey goes back to show the first days of the Silo, and the beginning of the end.

In 2007, the Center for Automation in Nanobiotech (CAN) outlined the hardware and software platforms that would one day allow robots smaller than human cells to make medical diagnoses, conduct repairs, and even self-propagate.

In the same year, the CBS network re-aired a program about the effects of propranolol on sufferers of extreme trauma. A simple pill, it had been discovered, could wipe out the memory of any traumatic event.

At almost the same moment in humanity’s broad history, mankind discovered the means for bringing about its utter downfall. And the ability to forget it ever happened.

A fantastic example of a GOOD sequel!

This book effectively builds on the previous book, explores so much, and to my great joy elevates the first! Fantastic listen!

I’m hooked!

I dove right into listening to book number 2 - and it was such a treat! The evolution from book one was outstanding and I can’t wait to get into book 3. Highly recommend!

Great story!

An amazing tale, told in so many different perspectives and they all come back together giving the mosaic meaning. I am launching into the next one without reservation!

Can’t stop listening

This book is just as good as Wool and brings you along for the lives of the characters. The narrator is a pleasure to listen to.

Performance

Acceptable pulp fiction, but well read. Writer really leans into weak metaphors. The narrator does a good job differentiating voices.

Great second book

Just an FYI, this does not continue from the first season of the TV series.

Keep it coming!

I really enjoyed this book, could barely put it down. Admittedly, I was confused at the beginning, and actually had to Google if this book was related to the first one! Don’t despair, it all makes sense, and by a quarter through, I was enjoying it as much as the first.

I am about to start the third book.

My favourite of the lot

This is my favourite book of the trilogy. Well done!! Adds wonderful depth to the story and arcs the story nicely from book one to three.

Hook on every word

Great prequel to Wool. I wonder if the AppleSeries will do this story justice? Great characters with phenomenal story arcs.

Rivals the first book

I can't tell which book I like more. This one covers a different aspect of the story so maybe it's not comparable for that reason. It answers a lot of questions which was good. Mystery is good but eventually you just gotta know. I'm torn on Edoardo Bellerini, he's a good narrator but sometimes I just find him a bit to mild, and that is just in this book.
