Publisher's Summary

A housemaid needs some magical help when she falls for a high-society gentleman in this captivating historical fantasy full of wit, charm, and heart-fluttering romance.

Effie has most inconveniently fallen in love with the dashing Mr. Benedict Ashbrooke. There’s only one problem: Effie is a housemaid, and a housemaid cannot marry a gentleman. It seems that Effie is out of luck until she stumbles into the faerie realm of Lord Blackthorn, who is only too eager to help her win Mr. Ashbrooke’s heart. All he asks in return is that Effie sew ten thousand stitches onto his favorite jacket.

Effie has heard rumors about what happens to those who accept magical bargains. But life as a maid at Hartfield is so awful that she is willing to risk even her immortal soul for a chance at something better. Now she has one hundred days—and ten thousand stitches—to make Mr. Ashbrooke fall in love and propose…if Lord Blackthorn doesn’t wreck things by accident, that is. For Effie’s greatest obstacle might well be Lord Blackthorn’s overwhelmingly good intentions.

An enchanting faerie tale set in Olivia Atwater’s magical version of Regency England, Ten Thousand Stitches is “a delightful, romantic romp” (Hannah Whitten) with a Cinderella twist and heaps of heart.

A Wonderful Sequel

I enjoyed the first book so much. And I enjoyed the second one even more! I love the main characters in this one. The pacing and plot of these books makes them very easy to binge. I finished the first two over a weekend. Can’t wait to read the third.

One of my favourites with a wonderful narrator.

I honestly just need more. I love Lord Blackthorn, Effie, and the whole cast. It's just beautifully done and I'm so grateful for it.

Book 2 was interesting, but book 1 is my favorite

I had trouble really getting attached to this novel's hero and heroine. Although Effie and Company experience a lot, I felt that it lacked the depth that book 1 contained in ample amounts. Regardless, it was still interesting finding out about the hardships endured/victories won by those who worked in well-to-do homes in that era and the character growth was still decent. I continued to enjoy the mix of history and fairy/magic of this world and had no issue binge-listening to this novel to find out how everything was resolved. :)
Note: it is helpful to listen to "Half a Soul" first in order to understand the context of this world and be familiar with its characters (especially to understand the difference between human and fairy cultures) Also, besides Lord Blackthorn, there are others that briefly reappear in "Ten Thousand Stitches".

A bit of a letdown after Half A Soul

This book was cute and had some nice moments, but I didn't find it nearly as engaging as the first book. I didn't connect with the characters the same way I did in the first, and the plot felt a little slow. There was definitely potential there but I wasn't in love the same way I was with the previous book. Definitely worth a listen if you enjoyed Half a Soul, but lower expectations a bit.
