Alexie Sherman's portrayal of childhood poverty and discrimination is a work that speaks directly to today's adolesants.
They get it. They get it when I present the novel in class as a YA masterwork. Students do not struggle. Junior's Pain is felt by them and they relate to it directly in their own circumstances. Thank you Alexie for speaking with authenticity to today's youth.

Teenagers and young adults. It is ultimately readable and Sherman Alexie creates a likeable protagonist in Junior Spirit. He has a great personality, is self-effacing but has an indomitable spirit that doesn’t quit. Lots of lol moments and moments you want to cheer for him and cry with him. An enjoyable read.
