Publisher's Summary

When raised to the level of art, seduction, an indirect and subtle form of power, has toppled empires, won elections, and enslaved great minds. The Art of Seduction synthesizes the legacies of civilization's greatest seducers - from Cleopatra to JFK - with the philosophies of important intellectuals on the subject, including everyone from Freud to Kierkegaard and Ovid to Casanova, and the classic literature of seduction. Robert Greene identifies the rules of a timeless, amoral game and explores how to cast a spell, break down resistance, and, ultimately, compel a target to surrender. The Art of Seduction is an indispensable primer on the essence of one of history's greatest weapons and the ultimate form of power.

Nuanced subject. Brave author. Shadow work.

These are the things you think are happening to you in your head and gaslight yourself out of because people can’t be that evil. News flash! They can be. People are animals too. This book is great for awareness to our animal nature or shadow. I got this book to protect myself from manipulation only to find that I have subconsciously committed a few of these things. Know thyself. I am the ideal and the dandy and I didn’t even know.

Missing Dangers

Nicely read but I've resorted to reading along since maybe 2-3 pages are missing from each chapter if not more.

Not a fan

I was told this would be a good book but the author calls the person they’re trying to connect with as victims which makes it difficult to read/listen to. Watch the Ted talk but I found this book very difficult to listen to.

Manipulative

I did not like this book. It felt very manipulative and no one wins when then are being conned.

2 hours in so far...

About half way through, and I'll I've been listening to is different types of personalities. This isn't a "how to" guide, rather an explanation of different types of personalities from the olden days. A bit disappointed in terms of expectation. Perhaps this is for someone. For me, a wasted credit.

Manipulation would be a better title

This book strikes me as insidious.
I’d like to think that seduction would be welcome by both parties but this book consistently refers to “your victim “.
I do not recommend this book due to its general thrust.

Do not waste a credit.

Incoherent mess. The writer clearly has control issues and comes off unhinged and overall made me mildly uncomfortable

Great storytelling

I will say the same thing I said about 48 Laws of Power. A lot of the advices seem fictional, dating way too far back to ne applicable to how the society operates today. Although, the human psychology is still the same in some ways, it has changed drastically.
