They fight for control all the time and that's when bad things happen. What if you could stop the thoughts and feelings you don't want? You can.

Publisher's Summary
Your inner Chimp can be your best friend or your worst enemy... this is the Chimp Paradox. Do you sabotage your own happiness and success? Are you struggling to make sense of yourself? Do your emotions sometimes dictate your life? Dr. Steve Peters explains that we all have a being within our minds that can wreak havoc on every aspect of our lives - be it business or personal. He calls this being "the chimp," and it can work either for you or against you. The challenge comes when we try to tame the chimp, and persuade it to do our bidding.
The Chimp Paradox contains an incredibly powerful mind management model that can help you be happier and healthier, increase your confidence, and become a more successful person. This audiobook will help you to recognize how your mind is working, understand and manage your emotions and thoughts, and become the person you would like to be. Dr. Peters explains the struggle that takes place within your mind and then shows you how to apply this understanding. Once you're armed with this new knowledge, you will be able to utilize your chimp for good, rather than letting your chimp run rampant with its own agenda.

Good solid narration of a terrible self help book.
It sounds like the author had his wife in the front of his mind the whole time he was writing this self help book. Narrator did a great job though.

Must read
This book might be not what you want, but it's what you need. It's easy to listen, but hard to accept, because it makes you realize that your happiness is your responsibility, and there are no excuses to be the miserable mess it is so convenient to be.

The best way to describe this book is it's an Owners Manual for People.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I have recommended it already to so many people. In our complex world it is unusual to meet anyone who has a perfectly balanced mind, and this book has s many techniques and lessons in it, that it has something in it for everyone.
What did you like best about this story?
It has most of the information I needed to sort out my life. I couldn't get this in 20 visits to a therapist or psychologist.
What does Tim Andres Pabon bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Great voice to listen to. You won't get bored.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Not possible. It is a long complex book and I had to listen to it three times for it to fully sink in.
Any additional comments?
Every human should get a copy along with their passport, driving license and library card. It's really an owner's manual for humans.

If it's good enough for Ronnie O'Sullivan.........
Probably the BEST self-help book I have ever read or listened to. Dr. Peters covers so many of life's experiences and teaches the reader how to deal with the many situations we encounter on our journey as well as how to manage the dichotomy that exists between the CHIMP & the HUMAN that dwells within all of us. A must read for the layman/laywoman to learn how to manage their life and ultimately bring more contentment to ones existence. I've had a lot of fun reflecting on my own life's experiences and comparing the recommendations of Dr. Peters. I confess that I haven't always made the best decisions but it is a work in progress and greatly improved because of this book.

This book was too boring for me. The examples were good but it wasn’t as great as many other self help books I’ve encountered. It was refereed to me by a associate that loved it. It just wasn’t great for me.

Metaphorically speaking
While I did get some good information regarding keeping my chimp under control, I found the over use of metaphorical analogies to be distracting and maybe a bit too dumbed down to be truly practical for me.

And it was going fairly well until then.
Incredibly unnecessary and out of date dichotomy about different male and female thinking randomly interjected into chapter 3 has marred what is so far a perfectly adequate framework for assessing your own rational vs emotional needs. Not positive I'll be finishing this.
The narrator is fine, but the ridiculously long pauses demand listening at at least 1.25x.

Good book
The book is very informative. The first few chapters are kind of slow and boring, afterward it will become quite interesting.
