Publisher's Summary

Harry Bosch has been given three years before he must retire from the LAPD, and he wants cases more fiercely than ever. In one morning, he gets two.

DNA from a 1989 rape and murder matches a 29-year-old convicted rapist. Was he an eight-year-old killer or has something gone terribly wrong in the new Regional Crime Lab? The latter possibility could compromise all of the lab's DNA cases currently in court.

Then Bosch and his partner are called to a death scene fraught with internal politics. Councilman Irvin Irving's son jumped or was pushed from a window at the Chateau Marmont. Irving, Bosch's longtime nemesis, has demanded that Harry handle the investigation.

Relentlessly pursuing both cases, Bosch makes two chilling discoveries: a killer operating unknown in the city for as many as three decades, and a political conspiracy that goes back into the dark history of the police department.

Fabulous Narration

Would you consider the audio edition of The Drop to be better than the print version?

Not necessarily. Only in that I got to drive while enjoying it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Pell. Not my favorite per se but the narrator did a very good job on his character!

What about Len Cariou’s performance did you like?

He is fabulous! He captures the characters , has a wide range of inflection, making it both enjoyable and easy to follow. My first book by this author had a different man and I was so disappointed that I returned it! Thank goodness we can do that. This was definitely worth the money.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No. Not really that kind of a book.

Any additional comments?

Just that i would absolutely buy this narrator again. The Harry Bosch novels have been a favorite of mine and after having been SO DISAPPOINTED in the narrator of The Black Box, my faith in audio books is restored

The Drop is a True Bosch Tale

I luved The Drop! Len Caribou is a terrific narrator; he helps the story come alive. Michael Connelly spun a plot that grips your attention, and doesn't let go. The character of Bosch is enticing, and becomes addictive, making you always want more!

Always Surprising

He works so hard only to be blindsided. He gets up and someone else is working against him. He thinks he knows who to trust and finds out differently, every time!

Not a great book, not bac either. Nice story line involving two diff situations in the same story. Lots of action, not a whole lot of dead narration. ok book

Good book, but not the best

I like the Harry Bosch series, however this book while enjoyable, was not everything I hoped for. Most of the story is solid, but I did not like ending. In fact I thought something was wrong with my audiobook, with how it wrapped up. I saw where it was heading, but thought he could have went a little further with it. Almost like when you write a college paper and are just done with writing and you think of something quick and to the point to finish it. Enjoy narrator, reads more like a tv show than a book, keeps me interested even on long drives.
