And it's no wonder: The process of growing a baby depletes a mother's body in substantial ways. But with postnatal care ending after six weeks, most women never learn how to rebuild their strength and care for their bodies after childbirth. Not as helpful as I'd hoped
Firstly, the narration was hard for me to listen to. The author somewhat has the voice, cadence, and pacing of an 8th grader reading a book report. I don't mean that to be offensive, it's just how it came across to me personally. That aside, the book was very repetitious, and felt a bit narcissistic. It catered more to people that are more spiritually inclined, especially leaning towards eastern, and Ayurvedic medicine and practices. A lot of emphasis put on post natal care for the mother, while sounding wonderful, is not accessible for everyone. Many people do not have the familial suppourt, or financial excess to hire doulas, pelvic floor care specialists, and a masseuse. I was hoping more for grounded 4th trimester help for the general population. I appreciate that the author would certainly have connected with many people, just not my cup of ancient herbs hand picked by monks from sacred grounds on a mountain.

Really use full tips you can put into action
I love the content of this book. Thank you Kimberly for writing this! It’s so sad that Americans have lost the generational knowledge of birth. I’m pregnant with my third child and finally seeking out the help and support I will need once the baby arrives. I went straight back to work after my first two with whom I had traumatic hospital births with and felt like I was a rockstar for doing so. Wow, how wrong was I for buying into society’s and feminist’s ideas of what it means to have it all and do it all. This time I’m looking forward to a healing birth with wise midwives in at a birthing center.
I love this book and hope it’s given to every mom at her baby shower with a offer to bring her a meal or clean her house post baby instead of all the meaningless gadgets and onesies and hospital room selfies.
Her message about how moms need to be mothered is so real. I felt that deeply with my first child but had no idea what to ask for or how to put it into words.

What we NEED more of!
The author of this book goes into a gray area. She explores and explains all of the things women go through post birth. She helps women understand that what they’re going through is normal, and that they don’t need to feel guilty or confused. Kimberly Ann Johnson has written a masterpiece, that I have, and will continue to, recommend to every mother I know. 100 stars!

Just not the book for me, but may work for others - it talks about "energies" and spirituality. It states you should ask others to bring you gifts, and I understand advocating for yourself, but it's not my style. I couldn't finish the book.

Read BEFORE delivery
I got this audio book expecting to focus on the fourth trimester as I was going through it but I found that the majority of this books content would have been beneficial if I had listened to it BEFORE I delivered my baby. As a result I skipped or partially listened to the majority of this book as it no longer pertained to me.

This Book is a Gem!
My heart swells thinking of the contents of this book. Kimberly has created a guide to recognizing the magic of the human experience of birth, without the added "WOO". It is practical, comforting and thorough in its organization of information and breadth of knowledge. I do give this book a WOO HOO! as it has vindicated my personal instincts and hunches about my future birthing experience and soon to be mama-hood. I am so thankful for this woman. I look forward to creating my fourth trimester sanctuary and trusting myself to tell people "NO" when I need, without guilt and to ask for help when I need, without guilt. l look forward to the opportunity to practice these arts and feel prepared and supported by the words in this book.
I'm so glad that Kimberly decided to read her own book. I feel like a friend is reading to me and I feel connected to her and the words and absorb information in a way I probably would not have if I read this. The PDF visuals and worksheets are pleasing to look at and thorough also.
WELL DONE!

Important Insight into Postpartum
Almost every mom I talk to says the same thing. 'I was not prepared for how hard the first couple months after birth would be.' Even the MOST prepared, home-birth, hippie mamas didn't know how hard the fourth trimester would be. And that's what Kimberly Ann Johnson has to tell you about. It's an important and useful book. She's professional and spirited! Her pace is a little slow for my listening pleasure. But I've recommended to all the mom's to be in my life.

Hands down best book for new Mommy
I am about to give birth and like many new moms, I went crazy reading about everything I should know. I’m very interested in all natural home birth (although this book doesn’t push natural/ home births, rather supports all moms after any type of birth) This book is the complete deal. We as a society and sex don’t typically make the space and time to take care of ourselves after the birth and feel guilty thinking of someone other than the baby. I so happy that I learned everything now right before I enter my “fourth trimester”. The author has a great voice and I love that she reads her own book.

Anecdotal and spiritual
So I liked a lot of the advice especially since I’m a Yogini and also very spiritual and woo woo. However I’m also a Physical Therapist and rely on science and research for lot of my treatment choices. Her comments about needing to eat meat or else your connective tissue will be weak I find completely false. Connective tissue integrity is more likely genetic as some people are just more lax. It has nothing to do with what they eat as long as they are healthy and getting enough nutrition. She blames her damaged pelvic floor on her vegetarian diet?! That is crazy to me.
