Publisher's Summary

Ten years ago he killed my son. Today I married him.

Ten years ago my darling son Jesse was murdered and our perfect family was destroyed. My strong, handsome boy, so full of life, became a memory, a photo I carried with me everywhere.

But today I’m finally close to finding happiness again. My ash-blonde hair has been curled into ringlets. Carefully placed white flowers frame my delicate features. The small, drab chapel has been prettied up with white satin, and there are tiny red hearts scattered on the small table where I will soon sign the register with my new husband.

The man who killed my son.

My friends and family can’t understand it. My neighbours whisper in the street whenever I walk past. How can I love a man like Tom?

They don’t really know me at all....

The most enthralling psychological thriller you’ll listen to this year from the best-selling author K.L. Slater. If you love The Wife Between Us or Gone Girl, you’ll be totally hooked on The Marriage.

Decent

Nothing exceptional in this book. It was an interesting, but predictable listen. The editing was a little sloppy. Halfway through Jill starts calling her husband Richard which confused me since his name Robert.

Loved this book

I have read every book by this author. The marriage was a great book and didn’t disappoint. Loved the twist!

predictable

I have always liked K L Slater, had high expectation for this one.
I am kind of disappointed, this one is different from her other novels, not as exciting.
Lucy Price-Lewis, as always, performed exceptionally, amazing narration.

Sneaky

Took me way longer than usual to figure out "whodunnit'! Nice little twist. Well played, Slater 😊

Welp...

This was like a puzzle where the pieces don’t quite fit right. I really like Slater, and I love Lucy Price-Lewis, but this one misses the mark for me.

Slater has written better..

The Marriage by KL Slater was a mediocre psychological thriller. The 'psychological thriller' part took a long time to get started, and I started to wonder if this element would ever present itself.

Two moms, each with a son the same age, are best of friends. Their friendship abruptly ends when their sons get into an altercation which results in the death of one, and the manslaughter charge of another. Ten years later, the convicted son marries his late best friend's mother, regardless of their past and their twenty plus years age difference.

The story is fairly absurd and the ending is not the greatest, but Lucy Price-Lewis does a phenomenal job of narration as per usual, and Slater is a talented author for this genre so I would still recommend the book.

Interesting premise but so Slow..

I enjoyed the performance from the narrator, she made the story worth it in the end. However, I was waiting for the book to get to the interesting part and I waited.. and waited. It was a struggle to not give up and start a new book but once I start a book, I finish it. After all was said and done, it was an okay book.

Very easy going and intriguing story

It was a fun story with an outstanding performance. The characters and story were believable and Lucy PL brought them to life.
