Description

You shared a secret with the wrong person.

Janey Markham is thrilled to be moving with her family to Buckingham Crescent, the smartest address in a desirable suburban town.

Worried she’ll be excluded by the glossy local mothers, Janey is thrilled when she meets Tanya, the kind of woman she has always looked up to. Tanya takes Janey under her wing and her teenage daughter, Angel, is amazing with Janey’s little boy. As Janey and Tanya grow closer, Janey feels she can finally leave her troubled past behind.

But then everything changes....

In a weak moment over a bottle of wine, Janey finds herself telling Tanya her most shocking secret. Why wouldn’t she trust her new friend?

The following day, Janey sees Angel, with a man old enough to be her father, pushing someone into a car. The next day a body is found, and police appeal for witnesses - and share a picture of the same car....

When Janey tells Tanya she is going to the police, Tanya turns threatening. She’ll stop at nothing to defend Angel, even if her daughter is guilty. If Janey says anything, Tanya will make sure that her dark secret gets out. Janey faces an impossible choice. Stay quiet about what she saw that terrible day or speak up and destroy the family she has worked so hard to protect....

From million-copy best seller K.L. Slater comes this twisty and absolutely gripping roller-coaster ride of a listen. Fans of The Girl on the Train and Gone Girl will be totally hooked on Little Whispers.

I enjoyed this book. It was a little drawn out but overall it was a good story and I liked the characters.

Ok book, but not a thriller

This book started off really slow, but I stuck with it.It doesn't pick up until around chapter 35-ish. I won't return it because the narration was really good and I did finish the book but it was not my favorite.

Couldn’t stand this! It went on and on and on

Totally agree with the reviews that said how this dragged on with no substance. Literally it wasn’t until hour 5-6 that it sorta got interesting. Even then it would sputter then stop. Such a waste of time. Ending so disappointing after spending hours waiting for something to happen.

Meh just Meh

I really wanted to love this book but it was all over the place and rushed beyond repair. there were extra story lines all over the place and at the end it was just a big tada that didn't make any sense.

Very Well Done!!

Sometimes K.L. Slater writes excellent, gripping stories that I cannot stop reading or listening to. This is one such book! I gobble it up in one sitting over night. Little Whispers is full of complex characters with a wonderful, gripping, comprehensive story line. A couple moves into a new neighbourhood with their son after inheriting some money from the wife's mother. They are looking forward to having some more money as the husband has a new IT job. Their son is only eight and he's going to a whole new school, and mom decides to make some friends. Pretentious and down right rude at first, the women from the new school don't seem like they are very welcoming, but eventually mom gets caught up in the web of the gossipy parents. The husband is spending more and more time at the office and the wife is spending more and more time with her new friends. However, of course.. not everything is what it seems. This is definitely one of the best, if not THE best Slater book I've heard. I highly recommend it! -Wendi

Difficult

I think this may have been a good book if there weren’t too significant plots twisted together that never really got into too much depth during the storyline. However it did and unravel at the end of the book. It’s also hard to read a book where by I hate the main character. Getting frustrated with some of the suspense fiction have a weak, naïve, ignorant, whiny women. Look forward to books where the main character is strong and smart.

Whiney

I didn’t mind the meandering of this book. When I thought it was going somewhere. But now that I know the ending, it just seems long winded. And the main character is whiney.

A train wreck. A boring train wreck at that.

I should have headed the previous review that said you could listen to the 1st and last 30 minutes of this nine hour book and it would be a better experience than listening to the endless minutia Slater substitutes for drama. I've been a fan of KL Slater which is why I ignored the bad reviews but this book is appalling in its banality. Shame on the author and the editors.

Wonderful book!

I loved this book!!! I’m certainly going to be listening to more from this author. The story was so incredibly suspenseful and I really didn’t know how it was going to end. Honestly, the best book that I’ve listened to in a long time.

Little Whispers

What an incredible book, one of her best. I am a fan of KL Slater and have read/listened to many of her books. Loved the story from beginning to the end, never guessing the secret. Looking forward to when I can get your new book. The narration was excellent.
