Description

One of the best Horus Heresy novels
Absolutely riveting story, with well-written characters and a lot of lore. A must for any 40K fan and a very good novel to delve into the universe, albeit probably not a good *first* 40K novel. As always, Jonathan Keeble killed it with his performance.

a bit too long but the finish is worth the wait

Great book, well written and read.
Interesting insight into how the Emperor view the Primarchs. This book will leave you wanting to paint some Custodes.

Let the Emperor's will be done!
I have read all of the Horus Heresy books so far and this one stands out like a shining beacon of storytelling, war, and amazing character development. Each character has a story, and the way the story flows as parallel events unite towards the end is expertly executed.

Best book of the series
Wanted there to be less Titan and more Custodes but man! This was THE BEST Book of the series outside of the first 5. Puts 40k into perspective more than any other book.

Very enlightening, extremely sad for humanity
This book explains so much, gives you a real look into what the Emperor is really like, and how the adeptus custodes and sisters of silence view the adeptus astartes after the Horus heresy. It explains why the Emperor chose Horus, why he could not foresee the heresy. It gives you insight into the difficult choices the Emperor had to make, sacrificing the few for the good of the many. It's just incredible.
As I consume more audible content I realize how important the narrator is in making an audio book worth listening too. An average or below par narrator can really ruin a good book. Jonathan Keeble's narration is a masterclass in narration, the Emperor sounds exactly like he should sound, the difference between custodians are distinct, to the point where you know who is speaking without the author telling you.
Incredible book, I recommend it to all of you who want to know more about the origins of the Emperor, his grand plan for mankind, and those final days before Horus came to Terra.
