Publisher's Summary

Despite a happy childhood, successful entrepreneur Addison Fox has always yearned to find her birth mother. And with the unexpected death of her adoptive parents comes a renewed determination to fill in the missing pieces of her life - to find her "other" family. But she's too late....

Burnt-out from past investigations, Randall Talbot is looking for some relief while helping out at his brother's detective agency. But when Addison Fox walks in, he can't resist her plea for help - even though her case is murder....

Addison is the sole survivor of her bloodline - a line that a killer is determined to make extinct. And even if the world-weary Randall has little regard left for life, he may be the only man capable of saving hers....

Disappointed

I have loved her Amish Mysteries. I am disappointed in this book, not up to her other books.

Two thumbs down

Too much heavy breathing crying. Everything was over done, maybe reading would have been better.

Disappointing

I have read all of Linda Castillo's "Kate Burkholder" stories and loved them. I thought I would try one of her others. I was extremely disappointed. The narrator was awful and the love scenes were close to pornographic. Story was okay, but it was hard to continue to listen to the end.

Some narrators are exceptional and some are painful.

The Perfect Victim was as frustrating to hear as I have ever experienced. Castillo is a favorite author, so much so that I suffered through this annoying narration despite wanting to scream and tear my hair out! The character of Addison was vilified by Lee with voice inflection so that she came across as a whiney, spoiled, selfish brat. But probably the most annoying was Lee’s inflection messed up the listening volume. I listen before going to sleep and it was impossible to adjust the volume when Lee went from whispering to screaming in a single paragraph. I liken this narration to overacting. Castillo, as usual, does not disappoint.

Intriguing book— however

Book ok, however I found the “female “ histrionics and stubborn obtuseness a bit tiring.. and the narrator’s rendition exacerbated this. Puh—- lease !!! 🤣Storyline ok but just could have done without the silliness of the suffering neurotic but “dig in her heels” w someone trying to protect her ..

Couldn’t listen anymore

Could only listen for 10 minutes as the reader was the worst ever. Simpering And exaggerating a line doesn’t cut it for me. Bought the book on Linda’s reputation and her Kate B series. Won’t do that again.

Just not a fan.

I love Castillo's Kate Burkholder series, but this is dreadful. Too much angst, overdone self-reflection, so much unnecessary verbiage. Didn't care much for the narrator. Over done drama infusion.

Disappointed

The storyline was pretty decent but the reader ruined the story for me. I couldn’t finish the book. Not up to Lina Castillo’s usual great reads
