Publisher's Summary

From the international best-selling author of The Simple Wild and Ten Tiny Breaths comes a new second-chance hate-to-love romance.

Scarlet Reed has returned to Polson Falls, convinced that 12 years away is long enough to shed her humiliating childhood identity as the town harlot’s daughter. With a teaching job secured and an adorable fixer-upper to call home, things in her life are finally looking up.

That is, until she finds out that Shane Beckett lives next door.

Shane Beckett, the handsome and charismatic high-school star quarterback who smashed her heart. The lying, cheating player who was supposed to be long gone, living the pro football dream and fooling women into thinking he’s Prince Charming. Shane Beckett, who is as attractive as ever and flashing his dimples at her as if he has done no wrong.

Scarlet makes it abundantly clear that old wounds have not been forgotten. Neighbors they may be, but friends they most certainly are not. She won’t allow herself to fall for the single father and firefighter again, no matter how many apologies he offers, how many times he rushes to her aid, or how hard he makes her heart pound.

But as she spends more time with him, she begins to fear that maybe she’s wrong. Maybe Shane has changed.

And maybe this time she’s the one playing herself - out of a chance at true happiness.

Second chances

It’s been thirteen years since Scarlet dated Shane Beckett. Her first love and her first heartbreak. They are no longer teenagers just adults living next door to each other.

All thru high school Scarlet was targeted for her mothers scandalous behavior. She was judged by her mothers sins especially by Penelope. It comes as no surprise that Penelope came between Shane and Scarlet.

The Player Next Door is a second chance rom-com. It’s brimming with sexual tension. Shane is the man next door. In high school he dated Scarlet for two months. He was destined for the NFL. When Scarlet returns she finds out he’s a sexy Fireman.

Luci Christian Bell was the solo female performer. It was a decent performance considering the character started off as a seventeen year old. The voice remained the same even after thirteen years had passed. There were times I felt like seventeen year old Scarlet was still inside the thirty year old woman. Her insecurities and jealousy stunted her ability to grow and mature especially being back in Polson Falls. Luci represented the voice to the best of her ability.

K.A. Tucker wrote a cute and fun story. I was surprised how much I actually enjoyed listening to this story.

Negative Stars!!!

Why would anyone give this book any more stars than they are forced to?! I read other reviews where people hated Scarlet but for me it was Shane! Why would she ever give him the time of day?! What on earth did he say or do to earn any forgiveness? Because he is hot? Yeah he got karmic payback by getting a witch pregnant and getting injured so his NFL dreams went up in smoke. I would have rather left him there! I hate hate hate that Scarlet ever came home and back to that jerk.
Rewrite the story where she gets a really great non jerk husband and comes home to see Shane and the red devil married and miserable! Also add a receding hairline on Shane and saggy boobs on the red devil.
This book honestly frustrated me. It’s not petty to write off someone who one day says they live you and then screws another girl the next day no matter their age. It’s what you should do!

Fun and Easy✨

I liked these characters and I loved the school teacher elements. Didn’t love a few of the accents, but overall a fun listen

4.5⭐️

I ate this uuuuup! I’m mad it wasn’t longer cause I read it way too fast. I hated her little martyr act, but of course the third act breakup had to come at some point. Honestly wanted his POV so bad. And more from him about what happened in the past. It felt like it was wrapped up too quickly.

Do not waste a credit

It was a total waste of time. No depth. The main character was so odd. The whole story was really nothing.

Enemies to lovers amazing book

I saw this on my Audible suggestion and decided to give it a try. This my first book by K. A Tucker and I enjoyed it very much. There were characters in the boom that I wish the outcome would have been different but it was still good. Shane and Scarlet were together as teens but Shane broke Scarlet and that set the story up for the Story line. As hard as she tried Scarlet never let go of Shane and Shane of Scarlet. Many things stand in the way of them being together but they overcome those obstacles so they thought only to break each other’s heart again. Scarlets bbf Justine is one of he highlights of the book I really want her to have her own book as well as Becca, Dean and eve the red devil herself. Look forward to their stories.
