So good... I listened in 1 day. So worth it.

I had already decided to write my own book prior to listening to this book. I heard Allison on a podcast yesterday and decided to order her book last night. It didn't disappoint. Being a person who has some training in helping others work through trauma and loss, I found the promise of writing something that I could share with others as well. I personally have grown immensely by giving "words" to life's experiences as well as recognizing patterns in my life and the lives of others. This is the wonderful gift of writing. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us.
PS. Part way through Chapter 3... I already bought a copy for a friend as a gift.

Highly nutritious, no bad fat...

This is a great book. If you need help getting started in writing anything (and I mean any little thing) this book is the place to start.
If this book were a meal, it would be highly nutritious with good cholesterol. The author makes it personal without cueing violins, and I really appreciate that. Job well done.

It’s an ok book. Was it so difficult to not include politics.

It’s decent. Some good points. Repeats the same points multiple times. Inclusion of politics here and there was frustrating.

Er...

Wow. I just started this and the opening seems to be a classic sales pitch strategy: create a problem and then sell the solution. If the opening 5 minutes of this text doean't make you feel like total garbage, then you are a strong and independent mind and you don't need this book. On the other hand, if words DO influence you, then the start of this book is immensely depressing. So far, I would recommend skipping the first audio chapter.

The Power of Writing It Down

The writer takes to long to get to the point. The book focuses on theory and not strategies. Very disappointed.

Meh… (yawn)

I must admit I thought this book would intrigue me more. While some points are valid I just keep finding myself dazing off and not even realizing half the stuff she was saying. She is well articulated but beyond that I was truly bored. I gave the overall two stars because even though I disliked it I love the implementation of writing. Writing has helped me tremendously process thoughts, feelings and convey them in a well processed manner to those in my life.

A book to reread

A call to action articulated with care for the reader. The author speaks from the heart and her writing reflects her truth, simply. She inspires and leaves me a little better.

engagingly and welcoming

I feel more empowered to write after listening to this book. Though it did take awhile until to get to any writing exercises that inspired me.

My main take away and the most useful bit of information was: Interesting questions leads to interesting writing.

I also feel a little sad after finishing this book. It took me in a lot of emotional directions which made meI face some of my demons and hardships.

Extremely Encouraging and I sightful

I have dyslexia. I always hated whenever someone told me to record things.
This book developed an increasing acceptance. I will write.
