Publisher's Summary

Set in a lethal pro football league 700 years in the future, The Rookie is a story that combines the intense gridiron action of Any Given Sunday with the space opera style of Star Wars and the criminal underworld of The Godfather. Aliens and humans alike play positions based on physiology, creating receivers that jump 25 feet into the air, linemen that bench-press 1,200 pounds, and linebackers that literally want to eat you. Organized crime runs every franchise, games are fixed, and rival players are assassinated.

Follow the story of Quentin Barnes, a 19-year-old quarterback prodigy who has been raised all his life to hate, and kill, those aliens. Quentin must deal with his racism and learn to lead, or he'll wind up just another stat in the column marked "killed on the field".

Performed by: Andy Brownstein, Bradley Smith, Chris Davenport, Colleen Delany, David Jourdan, Duane Beeman, Eric Messner, Eric Singdahlsen, James Konicek, Jefferson A. Russell, Jonathan Church, Jonathan Watkins, Ken Jackson, Kenyatta Rogers, Kimberly Gilbert, Matthew Bassett, Michael Glenn, Michael John Casey, Nick DePinto, Richard Rohan, Scott McCormick, Terence Aselford, Thomas Keegan, Tia Shearer, Jonathon Church, and Johnathan Feuer

Scott Siglers Narration is way better

I'm a huge fan of the GFL series. I've listened to the entire series narrated by Scott sigler a few times. I got this adaptation in hopes that it would bring something new and awesome and it Just did not deliver for me. if you're coming into this series for the first time and this is the first audiobook you get, it may not be that big of a deal but for me it was a huge issue. they got the pronunciation of everything wrong with like one or two exceptions and it was very frustrating to listen to. not only that But they forgot that these were aliens and they just gave them all normal American human voices with the exception of the ki species. whereas Scott's version he applied sound effects to voices to make them sound actually alien, which was great.
most of the sound effects either sounded like plastic wrinkling or it was just people grunting a lot. also some of the choices they made in terms of how certain characters sound was strange to me. It's almost like they didn't consult scott sigler about anything at all. I won't be getting any additional audio books from this adaptation series. Sorry But Greedok sounding like he was voiced by Kratos just does not work for me.
