Erik West is an ex-combat medic. He and his best friend, marine recon sniper Jimmy "Rugrat" Rodriguez, have been thrown into another world. They've become one of the "cursed". Now they have to figure out this fantasy world, where cultivation, skills, and abilities must be grown...or death awaits.

Ascension is just around the corner, whatever that means. But they'll need to master magic and temper their bodies to survive. In a world where your personal strength is your greatest value, Erik and Rugrat have to start from the bottom. But they've cut their teeth in conflicts all across Earth and honed their skills over years of training while creating a bond and upholding their honors and oaths.

It's not a question of if they are ready for the 10 realms, but instead are the 10 realms ready for them?

Get it now.

Great performance but writing has issues

Let me preface this by saying that I don’t necessarily feel cheated by purchasing this title however I won’t be continuing with book 2.

The book has multiple issues such as there being no real antagonist, no motivation for the protagonists (other than getting stronger just because), they don’t even really come across any real threats that they can’t simply overpower. Timing of events is hard to follow, it seems that they go from a nobody to godlike in six weeks or so?

Anyway, if you purchase this title, you’ll see what I mean. I wish the author well and the performance by the narrator was great, no issues there.

Overall a good intro

I like the concept of the story but as a different review stated, there isn’t any antagonist and the main characters seems to be op from the start.

Spoilers below

During the siege on the village they make a big deal about how the villagers aren’t gonna rout which was super cringe cause like no shit your not gonna rout, if you did you, your family and your friends would get eaten, so I feel that part was overly emphasized.

Thanks for making another version

So I enjoyed Todd's narration for the first 5 books, but couldn't deal with the narrator switch. Starting from the beginning makes it much much easier to listen to Neil and I'm quite enjoying it. thanks for taking the time and effort to make another version :)

Treading mediocrity.

We're reaching a point with Audible reviews that you need to go elsewhere to get any useful, truthful feedback on a book. This is not a 5 Star experience.

The book falls under the same feedback as many others here: Get. An. Editor.

Repetitive, lazy language made it really difficult to finish the book.

so I love this series but why Todd is solid love his work why change this to niel he's so monotone and has no real variation between rugrat and Eric. also niel reads to damn fast he shaved 2 hrs off the original listen by the soul filled and dynamic todd

Miss the old Narrator.

This new narrator" Neil Hellegeres" that he got for his later books killed this series for me and now he's destroying the beginning as well.
Neil Hellegeres is by far the worst narrator I have heard so far on Audible, Neil has no range and no ability to put emotions into the characters. not only that but he is monotone and speed reads just to get his paycheck. Very pathetic and a waste of everyone's time. God I miss Todd Menesses that man can Narrate.

it's ok till 5th book but after the narrator bad

Despite it flaws in story if hold on the till 5th book you'll mostly stay for characters but form 6 book onwards. you'll be greeted with dull narrator who suck all the life of the characters with monotone voice,he says "mona" for mana .

Loved this series. But it was released sooner.

AUDIBLE Has been re-releasing titles deleting them from your library. So just when you're been following Authors for years and think they released a new work. Nope. What's worse is if you refund the title... you're still out 1 payment and no title in your library. I'm missing at last count 200 books. I'm sure this has changed. Keep track and archive your payments and screen shot your library.
Watch your back.

Want to love it... but

Overall, the book isn't bad. 2 main characters are fun. Story is fun, but man the writing is clunky.

2 main characters just breeze through every obstacle and jump levels at like 100x what the natives can. Doesn't seem to take much work at all. They somehow just end up being dramatically more dangerous, scary and powerful than everyone for no clear reason.

There's constant weird sentences about how intimidating their voice or words or faces are and the feelings of the people in the story.
The exposition of how things work is way way over the top.

love the series and am a big fan of Neil's narration so I am dropping another credit on a new audiobook by one of my top 5 authors with a top quality narrator.

More like Call of Duty invades RPG

What I like about most LitRPGs is that you get someone from our world taken to a new one and they adapt to it. Or our world is altered and we have to adapt to it. This book has the RPG world adapt to the world of soldiers. This should have been written as a traditional fantasy and remove all aspects of a RPG. While they need experience, its not really tracked like good LitRPGs, its more of an afterthought. Because the RPG aspects are just forced in, it takes away from the story and is distracting. I might get another one if its a Deal of the Day, but totally not work a credit.

LOR meets Commando and has an adventure.

Fun and full of adventure.
All my military buddies, don't get too caught up in the beginning. (it's the future not today or today's advisors) It gets better.

Characters:
Rugrat.....For the Marines, I know you are all snipes, Recon, MARSOF, etc. hahaha... You will get a kick out of this marine.
Eric...... is an 18D on steroids with majic. If we only had him in Iraq and Afgh. Cookie wiuld still be here and have his legs too.

It was worth two coppers.

MILITARY GRADE (lit)RPG

Great mix of real word accurate military knowledge and fun fantasy antics. I couldn't put my headphones down.
