Publisher's Summary

Instant #1 New York Times bestseller! Full of explosive magic, searing romance, and heartbreaking betrayal, this breathtaking sequel to This Woven Kingdom is from the award-winning and bestselling author of the Shatter Me series and is perfect for fans of Leigh Bardugo, Sabaa Tahir, and Tomi Adeyemi.

With the heat of a kiss, the walls between Alizeh, the long-lost heir to an ancient Jinn kingdom, and Kamran, the crown prince of the Ardunian empire, have crumbled. And so have both of their lives.

Alizeh, the heir to the Jinn throne, is destined to free her people from the half-lives they’ve been forced to live under human rule. When Kamran, the heir to the human throne, falls in love with her, he’s forced to question everything he’s been taught about Jinn.

Kamran’s grandfather lays dead at the hand of Cyrus, ruler of the neighboring kingdom of Tulan. Cyrus has stolen Alizeh away to his homeland and plans to marry her there, giving her everything she needs to become the Jinn queen—and when she assumes the throne he will have fulfilled his own bargain with the devil.

Alizeh wants nothing to do with Cyrus’s deal or the devil. But without a way to escape Tulan, and with the fulfillment of her own destiny tantalizingly close, she’ll have to decide whether she can set aside her emotions to become the queen her people need.

Kamran, meanwhile, is picking up the pieces in Ardunia. Facing betrayal at every turn, all he knows is that he must go to Tulan to avenge his grandfather. He can only hope that Alizeh will be waiting for him there—and that she hasn’t yet become the queen of Tulan.

What a wonderful adventure!

What a wonderful adventure this story is! A marvellous performance by Kate Reading indeed! Such a suspenseful magical story! I await Alizeh, Kamran and Cyrus, not to mention Hazan, Omed and Ms.Hooder’s continuing journey!

Beautifully Narrated with Rich Descriptions

After reading the first book I immediately ordered the sequel in advance and waited with bated breath. The book started off strong and picked up from where it left off with rich descriptions of Eliza and both princes that were warring for her attention. As the book evolved however, the author delved into such detail, the actual plot was lost in parts and I couldn't wait to move on as nothing happened. The result of this was that Elisa and both princes evolved into over emotional adolescents. The intention, I can only imagine, was to ensure that there was a depth of character and character growth, however, for me personally it had the opposite effect detracting from the actual story line which eventually felt like it went nowhere . The only redeeming quality that kept me going was the Beautiful narration of Kate reading who brings the characters to life and adds a depth that enriched the characters in a way the author aspired to.

Aghh!!

I’m dying!! Usually I wait for book series to fully come out before starting for this very reason. I’ll actually pass away from the weight of anticipating the next book.
Needless to say I enjoyed it.

Loved it!

I agree with the previous reviewer who said the only complaint was that the book wasn’t long enough. The character relationships in this series are compelling, intense, and at times delightfully snarky. The book was just long enough that I was completely hooked as it finished. Definitely recommend. Can’t wait for book 3

Loved it!

I only have one complaint, not long enough. It felt like I just started when I realized it was ending. It was that good!
