Jack and the crew of the Crimson Alliance have finally made it back from the Realm of Order, but the threat to Eldgard is deadlier than ever.

Vogthar incursions are increasing, dungeons falling in droves, towns and cities ravaged by Darklings - Players and NPCs who have willingly sided with the Dark Overmind Thanatos. But thanks to a priceless artifact Jack found after defeating the Lich Priest, there might be a glimmer of hope on the horizon. Jack and company have unearthed a Doom-Forged relic, one part of an ancient weapon capable of killing even a god. But to assemble the legendary god-killer, they’ll need to find the other relics and locate the fabled Doom Forge of the Dwarven godling Khalkeús, all while unraveling a mystery five hundred years in the making.

Best one so far

This is definitely the best of the bunch. Didnt care for how it ended but the whole story was engaging. He fleshed out the characters a little more this time. I'll buy the next one when it comes out.

Another Great Story

I have been following this series from the beginning and this chapter was another great one. I can’t wait for the next story in the arc. I really enjoyed the main quest in the book and I think anyone familiar with this series will certainly feel the same way. Great work as usual! I’ll definitely be here for the next one!

A bit long winded, but good.

As your listening you’ll already know what’s gonna happen about 30 minutes ahead. James Hunter is a long winded author, almost going overboard on descriptions of simple unimportant things.. cool if it actually was something fascinating. However it’s used in the most mundane areas of the book as to drag out a report to meet a certain word count. The love stories these LITRPG authors try to fit into their books is tiresome. In book 6 James hunter has not gone overboard in the “love” in the story which is quite refreshing. A lot of the tension and build up is good but I was not impressed or overexcited about anything in book 6. Great time listening to Armen Taylor. Would recommend using a credit or buying this book if you continue reading this series. Will buy next one.

Great continuation

This was a great continuation of the story. Filled with plenty of action and struggles as what you would expect from VGO. Cant wait for the next book to be released! Keep it up Mr. Hunter!

A road to the end.

Amazing story, great action, and the beginning of the end.

Jack and team start the quest for the doom forge, twists and turns await, riddles in the dark.

The story and pacing are excellent, would suspect nothing less from a finished James Hunter book.

The world gets a little bit bigger as we are taken to new places and familiar ones in time.

New opportunities provided for big rewards.

Can’t wait for book 7.

I appreciate the sentiment.

It isn't often that an author will come around and start to finish up a series that they started. and for that I do appreciate the sentiment.

Although, I do feel that the story core of the LIT RPG slipped away from the both the author and the listeners.

there was no more enthusiastic "gamer" progression with the stats. almost no fun humor cutter remarks. Amara had maybe 3 lines in the entire book but was there for a good portion.

Listening to the story itself it felt like the author was forced to write this book out as a chore. and similarly. it felt like a chore to listen to this book.

Good Read but now story driven

I was trying to figure out why this story was different from the others and failed to hold my attention throughout. I discovered through contemplation the reason. Their after no failings of about of the protagonists. Therefore there is now no real character growth.

Yes the story is good. Yes there are fun elements that allow the story to go forward. But the only real advancement of the protagonists are there gear. the story becomes rote and predictable. You know that they're going to compete the missions; otherwise the story will end.

Only Cutter has a psychological failing: he's scared of rejection due to his great of death. only here do I feel a true connection with a character. And it's short-term lived, resolved within a chapter.

What does Grim Jack battle with throughout the book? How is it resolved or failed? What moral aspect does he struggle with to continue to grow as a person?

Great "story." Great performance. But it is beginning to become an inorganic story, less and less character driven.

I do enjoy the stories but this one caused me to slow down and ask what was bothering me due to difference of story and it's lack of character growth or short lived character growth.

Nevertheless, I'm still looking forward to the next in the series.

Top tier LitRPG with excellent characters

J A Hunter is an excellent writer. His books have something extra. A look into the human soul. Something not all LitRPG books have.

The IRL drama of VGO doesn’t match The Way Of The Shaman, The Dark Herbalist, or Awaken Online, but the action, extreme quests, and development of such interesting characters cannot be matched, except maybe by The Land, but the moral issues approached in VGO give it the edge.

Overall, the series is truly one of the best LitRPG. I did miss Osmark in this book, though.

Armen Taylor performs a masterful narration.
