Story
Move Your DNA explains the science behind our need for natural movement - right down to the cellular level. It examines the differences between the movements in a typical hunter-gatherer's life and the movements in our own. It shows the many problems with using exercise like movement vitamins instead of addressing the deeper issue of a poor movement diet.

When it comes to health, there is one criminally overlooked element: sleep. Good sleep helps you shed fat for good, stave off disease, stay productive, and improve virtually every function of your mind and body. That's what Shawn Stevenson learned when a degenerative bone disease crushed his dream of becoming a professional athlete. Like many of us, he gave up on his health and his body...until he decided there must be a better way.

Story
Women have a important biological rhythm they experience every month that affects productivity, weight, sex drive, energy, and mood. It is essential to be aware of and take care of this rhythm, but it has been widely ignored by medical, nutrition, and fitness research. So as women, we diet, we deprive, and we cram as much as possible into our day, striving to accomplish impossible to-do lists, and scheduling our lives based on a 24-hour time cycle, ignoring the intuitive time our bodies naturally keep: a monthly cycle with four hormonal phases that offer incredible advantages.

Publisher's Summary
Barefoot enthusiasts say ditching your shoes is essential for optimal whole-body function. Doctors say minimalist shoes cause injury. Who's right? What if they both are? In Whole Body Barefoot, biomechanist Katy Bowman explains how both sides are right and wrong by broadening the perspective of over-simplified "shoes are good" or "shoes are bad" arguments. Using evolutionary-based and biomechanical arguments, Bowman demonstrates that shoes, in a modern context, have purpose, but that the trade-off for protection can be reduced whole-body health if we don't select the right shoes for our body and skill level.

How to get the PDF
Any additional comments?
This is an amazing book full of practical solutions for improving not only your foot, but also your whole body health. Regarding the PDF, I heard from the publishers that they have given the file to Audible and are unsure of the delay. They are more than happy to email it to anyone who needs it. Simply email them at info@restorativeexercise.com to request it.

Fun, informative, a must read for EVERYBODY
Would you listen to Whole Body Barefoot: Transitioning Well to Minimal Footwear again? Why?
Very easy to listen to; varied aspects of foot health. This is not just a rant about not wearing shoes...Katy is very open to all opinions out there and doesn't push anything but facts. She encourages you to think for yourself and to apply ideas to your own body.
What did you like best about this story?
Katy rocks. I'm sure I will never be able to listen to another narrator. This is my first audio book, and I fear she has set the bar quite high. I love listening to her. It's just easy.
What about Katy Bowman’s performance did you like?
She's funny. She sounds full of life. She is confident, knowledgeable and open. Love it.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. But I didn't. It is a lot of information afterall. But I could have.
Any additional comments?
The bloopers at the end were the best (I mean, not really the best, because the book was the best), but you know a Californian 'the best'. If you can laugh yourself silly listening to someone talk about anatomy I think she must be funny.

Where's the PDF the author mentions many times?
Any additional comments?
The technical information is helpful. The author's reading is excellent. So where's the accompanying pdf the author mentions numerous times during the audio recording of her own book? I'm very disappointed with Audible.com and the author for neglecting the written material and diagrams. As of June 2, 2015, the accompanying pdf is not available.

Do It For Your (Whole) Body
Great information and entertaining presentation as is the norm for all of Katy's materials.
Easy to understand but also thoroughly explains the reasons for transitioning to minimal footwear and how to do so safely. Includes lifestyle modifications for where and how you take your feet to keep your whole body healthy.
