Publisher's Summary

This is the story of Michael Talbot, his family, and his friends: a band of ordinary people trying to get by in extraordinary times. When disaster strikes, Mike, a self-proclaimed survivalist, does his best to ensure the safety and security of those he cares for. Book One of the Zombie Fallout Trilogy follows our lead character at his self-deprecating, sarcastic best. What he encounters along the way leads him down a long dark road, always skirting the edge of insanity.

Can he keep his family safe? Can he discover the secret behind Tommy's powers? Can he save anyone from the zombie queen? Encircled in a seemingly safe haven called Little Turtle, Mike and his family, together with the remnants of a tattered community, must fight against a relentless, ruthless, unstoppable force. This last bastion of civilization has made its final stand. God help them all.

This is a new and updated edition of the previously published title, which originally released on Audible in 2012. This new production features the author's most updated language and revisions, aligning with the most recent edition of the eBook.

Meh!! Its just okay

Before you waste your time reading this review, I will make one suggestion to you. Go and listen the the Arisen series, its by far the best zombie series ive listened too, and the Legendary R.C Bray is the narrator.

Look this author seems like he’s had some success, Im not sure how the quality of his others stories are and Im not sure ill bother seeing for myself.

I will say there is just enough in this first book to keep me interested enough to finish it, Im about halfway through. Will not continue this series

Dislikes:
- The narrator sounds like a mix between Ray Romano and Kermit the frog
- So far Im not overly enjoying the way the story has been written, to much 1st person.
- I don’t find the humour overly enjoyable, its forced and overdone, trying too hard to be witty
- I definitely don’t buy into the virus was started because of the H1N1 vaccine. Nope
- It appears that this author has retitled some of his books from others series, definitely appears to be a greasy cash grab.
- The sarcasm is very forced and falls short.

Likes:
- Not many
- The story is somewhat interesting
- When I finish this book
- That’s about it

The best series and author

Just the best! Mark Tufo’s book are always a hit. I’ve finished every series by him and have restarted from ZF. Realize new things along the way!

So good

This book was so good, it’s has a comedic charm mix with scary ideas as to what zombies could be. It’s a different perspective on a zombie apocalypse, Mike is the boss yet so funny especially when he……..

Character outstrips story

I love the people that Mark has created, but the story isn’t as strong. I enjoyed the humour and the perspective, but I don’t feel driven to read the next book.

I love zombies

This is a great zombies series and it's free! There's a prequel to this book, I would start there, but it's not necessary at all. I like the characters and I feel like they're throwing a little Stephen King spirituality from The stand.

Tremendous fun

It is silly, but tremendously fun book. I have kids, a bossy wife and have owned a bulldog, so I could relate to everything. Don’t let the low budget cover fool you as it did with me for over a year. It is worth your while!

Get it!

I can't believe I've been sleeping on this series for years! finally pulled the trigger on book 0 and will be getting the entire series. Characters are actually unique, not just your typical cookie cutter prepper marine surviving the zombie apocalypse, give it a listen!

Wow and not in the good way.

A plot driven by toilet humour, female characters lifted from 1930s pulp detective series (damsel, sex pot/harpy), and a poor attempt at a reluctant hero; this book disappoints on so many fronts. The author couldn’t be bothered to do any research to anchor the story in facts so the story could grow fully. It’s rather like a series of scene ideas we’re just tacked together with the bare minimum of structure.

Impossible to listen to

The narrator sounds as if he had ill-fitting dentures and makes so much mouth-sounds that I was grossed out in the first 2 minutes. Bad casting choice.

Read through time and time again.

Years ago when Zombie Fallout originally released for audible it became my first adventure into audiobooks. Turns out this one story would define 95% of my future library on audible. Tufo brings it again and again with each successive novel. I just recently listened to the old version of this to only immediately revisit it as soon as this current version hit the metaphorical shelves.

Great series, but not much actually changed.

I listened to the new addition. Not much seems different. Thought they were going to change more in the new edition. I've listened to this series maybe 2 times on majority of the books, but still working on finishing book 8 for 1st time.
Ignore the comment that one person made about the garage and the humor for this character. The door was opened in a previous chapter. The statement made about the narrator and the character's humor is definitely off. He/she probably was not military. Military sometimes has a strange sense of humor as well as how it is delivered and I think he nailed. Just as Dick Hill has the perfect voice for Jack Reacher. Sean Runnette is great for Mike Talbot.

One of the BEST zombie series in existance..

This is only the third book series that I felt worth of my time to review and I have Thousands of kindle books and almost two hundred audio books.. so here goes.

Mark Tufos Zombie Fallout series is a great series I actually read 8 of the 13 or so books in the series..
( I got a divorced dx'd with MS, started working full time, my mom died.. yeah.. i got busy.. books were back burner both as recreation and in regards to $$ and recreation, but I digress)
I loved reading the series.. I laughed, I cried, I loved and I hated. and the bonus Bulldog made some things just all too real for me because I know from real life experience that bulldog farts can probably rival zombie stink,.

Then I discovered the series on Audible and at the same time I found myself simultaneously with a few audible credits not slated for any book i really wanted and suffering serous withdrawal while waiting for the ninth book in the Outlander series to come out (ANY TIME NOW Diana Gabaldon!! Get Crackin! I'm Sufferin! )

So.. I bought the first book to listen to while I sulked and pouted.. and HOLY MOTHEROFFRANK!!
IM DYIN HERE!! long story short, if you need a laugh this audible book has got them.
that is all.. it will not disappoint you in terms of action, adventure or laughs.
And the narrator was a great fit!
thanks for tuning in.

Wrong Narrator

This might be a good story, but I will never know because the narrator was awful. Sing-song and drops the end of EVERY sentence; he just doesn't seem right for the humor in this book. I didn't really care for any of the characters and some of it was pretty dumb, in the little I heard. How did the zombies get IN the garage if all the doors were shut?

For some reason, I am not allowed to return it, even though I only got an hour into it before giving up.

Don’t Understand All The Positive Reviews

I decided on this book due to all the favorable reviews, which made it all the more puzzling after I started listening. The main character is a marine but he’s a sensitive marine. Throwing up and nauseous when someone is killed? Hesitant to shoot zombies? A prepper, but hardly prepared. Leaves the keys in a truck containing an overly emotional girl who refused to help and wanted out of the situation. Even free, this is a hard pass.

The Women are Useless!

I rarely do more than rate the books on here with stars, but this time I really need to provide more. Not sure I can even complete this free book (or any of the series)! No issue with the narrator, just the content of the story. Women in this book are useless ... can't drive a stick, can't shoot or even load a weapon (even when raised in a survivalist's household), and choose to go shopping for smokes while 'the men' are out saving the world. And this in just the first half! Good thing it was a free (included with my membership) book or I'd be requesting a refund. Ugh! So, if you are a woman considering listening (or reading) this misogynistic series you may need a lobotomy first so you'll bring yourself down to the level of the women in this book!
