Hello and welcome to episode 53 of the Still Spinning Podcast. We appreciate you checking us out. The Northern Lights were visible in MANY areas that usually cannot see them over the past weekend; did you check them out? What did the Dan Deibert Weather Center think about them? Were they visible in Chicago? We chat about this and who is likely pretty angry that they were visible to us in the US. A man in California was asked (told he had to by his neighborhood association) to put up a fence so that his boat would no longer be visible to the neighbors, and his solution was genius. He put up the fence all right and then hired an artist to paint on that fence. If you watch, and not just listen, you will get to see the artwork he put up. He has got a lot of attention for his solution. Dan shares a kinda similar story about a couple and an RV park that is not to be missed. Petty? Maybe. Hilarious? Absolutely. A woman exited prison and immediately tried to steal a car but something stopped her. Cops? Nope. An anti-theft device? Nope. It was a stick shift. This leads to a conversation about stick shifts, carjacking, and pizza delivery. We also delve into driving in Europe and Nicole uses the term "heathens" as part of the explanation for why the UK drives on the "other" side of the road. Dan's reaction is one for the ages. Speaking of drivers, Chicago has just made the Forbes list as one of the WORST cities for drivers. Well DUH. Dan shares some summer plans he has and the things he will do, and pay, to avoid driving through Chicago. Nicole shares everyday life on the roads in Chi-town. And finally, McDonald's has announced they are launching a new $5 meal deal. We discuss the meal, the current state of the local McD's and what we suspect will happen with the deal. Tune in for all of this and more! You can find merch and sponsor opportunities on our website, stillspinningpodcast.com. Thanks so much for listening!

Welcome to episode 52 of the Still Spinning Podcast. That is right, we have made enough episodes that you could listen to one a week for a WHOLE YEAR!! 20 years ago, the finale of Friends aired. THE FINALE. Wasn't 20 years ago 1980?? We discuss the show, the finale, and what it means to be a Gen X kid who thinks "everything" was 20 years ago. Dan ordered from Little Caesar's over the weekend and found out, the hard way, that they use DoorDash as their delivery service. Did he get his food? Did he get a refund? You will have to listen to find out. There is a new office term (when isn't there??), and this one is called "rage applying." It happens when you really hate your job and start applying to anything and everything. Now, call me silly, but I feel like that is when I applied to all my jobs... isn't that just normal?? People do not leave jobs they love, right? Finally, there is a small town in Japan that is sick of tourists, and they have a unique way of handling them. Or at least making it a less desirable place to visit. All of this and more on episode 52! Make sure to check out our website for even more cool stuff - stillspinningpodcast.com. Have a great week!

Welcome to episode 51 of the Still Spinning Podcast. Nicole has COVID once again and Dan has dubbed her "Nicovid" and it is pretty funny. This episode seems to have an "animal" theme. Some Scottish ladies in Romania ran into some trouble when trying to get a "nice" picture with a WILE BEAR. Needless to say, someone got mauled. This sparks a discussion on people VS animals and who is in the right (hint, it is the animals). Yellowstone and bison are mentioned and Dan had to run off to get a picture of Vigo from Ghostbusters 2. Phish was at the Sphere in Vegas and we can only imagine the altered states of the folks in that dome. We talk about the coolness of the venue and Nicole shares what her ideal venue is, a place she has yet to visit. Have you ever packed your cat in a box and sent it to the Amazon return center?? Well, a woman in Utah did, and we tell the tale of the cat. A little girl was scared of the monsters in her room and imagine her parent's surprise when a GIANT bee colony was discovered in her wall. GIANT. 50,000. This leads to a confession by Dan about his interest in a beekeeper's suit, and a comment Nicole makes gets taken out of context. OKC is getting a big building, which we talked about LAST week, but this week they were hit by tornados. Do you think anyone has doubted any decisions?? Dan also dreams up a new podcast he would like to create, which involves a 360-degree camera on the top of his car, and he is already getting crowd support. Will it ever happen?! We will see. Welcome to episode 50 of the Still Spinning Podcast. We recorded live on Earth Day and the first day of Passover. Dan got the cool new light working and we were off to the races. Nicole found a story in People this week about a man who, on his honeymoon, took his wife's business class flight upgrade and then could not figure out why she was mad. Is it EVER ok to take an upgrade if you are traveling with your SO?? This leads to some flight preferences for Dan and Nicole and also a discussion on the Mile High Club. What a kick-off for the night. There is a new building being built in the US that will be one of the highest in the country. Guess where? You cannot, I assure you. Let's just say the Tornado Belt is involved and we chat about Dan's stay at a really swanky place in Dallas and his near miss of a tornado there. He has also decided he wants to be a professional storm chaser or at least get the cool 360-degree camera on his car. And finally, is this person an A-HOLE for asking people for $5 towards a backyard renovation instead of getting their kid a birthday present for their birthday party?? No discussion needed, yes, yes they are. But there are more details and witty banter about it, so tune in and check it out! We are adjusting our timing for next week so stay tuned to learn when it will be! Check out our website at stillspinningpodcast.com for all the things.

Welcome to episode 48 of the Still Spinning Podcast, the Total Eclipse edition. To start us off, Dan tells a story of meeting a listener of the podcast out in the wild! It is a first for us and we were excited. Yesterday was the eclipse, and we would have been remiss not to talk about it. Dan was sending Nicole updates and instructions on the best time to watch and it was totally worth it. Imagine sitting in the window seat of a plane as it is taking off and you see part of the engine cover blowing in the wind. This happened Sunday to a passenger on a Southwest flight and we shared some (what looked to Nicole like) scary footage but Dan said it was no big deal! Looked like a big deal to Nicole! Nicole loves Costco and has been trying to convert Dan for years and is close to breaking him. Costco is in the news as they are cracking down on who can purchase their famous $1.50 hot dog/soda combo and TBH, Nicole did not realize it needed to be cracked down on. This led to a mini discussion on stores with rules that they do not enforce. And somehow, it also leads to a discussion of wrestling, particularly WWF/WWE in the 80's. It was quite a night! Thanks for tuning in! Please check out our website at stillspinningpodcast.com and tell your friends to check us out!

Welcome to episode 36 of the Still Spinning Podcast. We actually stayed on task today, for the most part. We kicked things off talking about fish and when you should not heat it up in the microwave. It is wedding season everyone and with that comes wedding etiquette! A new one, one we are ALL FOR, is the idea of letting people who missed the RSVP deadline know that they should not bother showing up because they are OFF THE LIST. A company asked 400 people to work from home last week for a virtual meeting in which they were all FIRED. One mass culling. We chat about this tactic and Nicole shares a story about a job she used to work at and how they did a mass firing. There is a new friend type and it is called the "Tenured Friend." We go through the checklist and it turns out, Dan and Nicole are absolutely tenured friends. Finally Dan shares a very disturbing animal (sort of) video. Nothing you will find sad or anything like that but for sure a WTF moment. You have to see it to believe it! Welcome to episode 45 of the Still Spinning Podcast. We had to move nights due to scheduling things but it was a fun way to spend our hump day. We kick things off by talking about Abe Lincoln and a new show that got Dan to sign back up for Apple TV... although his excitement was short-lived. We also learn that if your name appears in a song, he will sing it to you! He calls it a disease, and Nicole calls it a Dan-ism. Dan was at Wendy's, and the person behind the counter was so nice to him he could not get over it. Until he realized that it always used to be that customer service people were nice. The bar has fallen, on both sides of the counter. Somehow, Abe Lincoln comes back up in the conversation, and we learn a bit about the make-up of his cabinet. A women in Nebraska figured out how to get FREE GAS from a pump, and boy, she took advantage of that discovery. She is now facing criminal charges and we asked the listeners to weigh in on if she should. Beetlejuice, the movie, came out THURTY SIX YEARS AGO and we cannot get over it. There is a sequel coming out and Nicole is excited, Dan will love it because of his "Michael Keaton effect" and we talk about the best and worst movies we can remember. Also westerns get some hate and Dan finds interesting DVDs in his Goodwill DVD players. It was quite a week here on the podcast, we hope you enjoy! Welcome back, Spinners! Buckle up, because Episode 44 of The Still Spinning Podcast is rolling out laughs like a fast-food chain rolls out price hikes. This week, we're diving deep into the wallet-emptying phenomenon at Five Guys. Yes, folks, it seems their prices have soared to heights only seen in our collective blood pressure post-meal. Is this news? Or just a new way to fund their peanut budget? We're on it! But hold onto your fries because we're not stopping there. Ever thought about taking a bubble bath while staring at your bed? Well, someone out there did, and now it's becoming a trend. That's right, we're unpacking the latest in home design: the bed-bath combo room. It's like efficiency met laziness and they decided to cohabitate. Sleep tight and don’t let the bath bombs bite! And as if our brains weren’t already in a twist, we're dissecting the latest in hygiene overkill. Those signs in restrooms insisting employees wash their hands? Some companies are morphing that gentle reminder into a full-blown soap opera. We delve into the slippery slope of handwashing hysteria – because if there's anything more serious than a high-stakes game of rock-paper-scissors, it's apparently this. And if that is not enough, there is a new study out there that says too many sugary beverages lead to A-FIB. As if we do not have enough issues?!? Join us for a whirlwind episode of laughter, disbelief, and the occasional existential crisis about fast food economics and bathroom decor. It’s Episode 44: Where Burgers and Bathrooms Collide, and it’s spinning your way faster than you can say "extra fries with that." Catch you in the spin! Check out our website stillspinningpodcast.com for more information.
