If you're a working-class kid in Cottoncroft and want to stay healthy, part of your pay goes to Froggy Flitcroft, small-time racketeer and boss of a gang called Push. Fed up with paying Flitcroft, Maisie Malin and her friends form Pull, an outfit pledged to defy Froggy and his gang. When Flitcroft gets involved in a new, sinister racket, Pull gets its chance to topple him, but to do so its members must take an appalling risk.
