The Essential Collection encompasses Bill Hicks’ short but powerful career as a satirist, social critic, and stand-up comedian. It features over two hours of Bill’s best stand up material spanning his entire career including never-before-released bits from a San Ramon, California, performance, a collection of 11 original songs entitled “Lo-Fi Troubadour”, and two digital exclusives - a song called “Ice Cold Macaroni”, and “The Adventure”, a 30 minute travelogue of Hicks talking into a tape recorder on a car trip from New York City to Little Rock, Arkansas.

On the morning of June 20, 1993, Bill Hicks received the final diagnosis from his doctor that he had pancreatic cancer. That same evening at an open mic night this show was recorded in West Palm Beach, Florida. ​It's unreal he had the energy and frame of mind to put on such an amazing show after such devastating news. This is the last special Bill Hicks ever taped in 1992 and features him the height of his genius. Recorded at the Dominion Theatre in London, Bill Hicks opens our eyes and minds to the hypocrisy and ludicrousness of the world around us. 

On 11/29/1992 at the end of a very successful tour of the UK, Bill performed in London at the Dominion Theatre to a raucous capacity crowd. This performance became his last recorded special, Revelations, which many consider to be Bill in peak form. On TV, DVD, and LP, it was edited down to one hour and 13 minutes. But, the actual show that Bill performed that night was an epic, running just under two hours long. Now for the first time the entire audio of the show is being released as Bill performed it that night...with all 43 missing minutes!

Bill loved music. It was a big part of his life and his comedy. He wrote many songs over the years and often traveled with his guitar while he was on his comedy tours. After shows, in his hotel room, he would play his guitar and write songs. After Bill died his family found boxes of songs Bill had recorded. To honor Bill’s love for music, the tapes were taken to Abbey Road Studios in London where they were re-mastered. Lo-Fi Troubadour contains 17 original Bill Hicks songs, six of those being released for the first time here.
