Tesla is the envy of the automotive world.  Born at the start of the millennium, it was the first car company to be valued at $1 trillion. Its CEO, the mercurial, charismatic Elon Musk has become not just a celebrity but the richest man in the world. But Tesla’s success was far from guaranteed. Founded in the 2000s, the company was built on an audacious vision. Musk and a small band of Silicon Valley engineers set out to make a car that was quicker, sexier, smoother, and cleaner than any gas-guzzler on the road. 

I wrote a fair number of poems in my younger days, saved and placed in a folder titled “King Among the Prawns”. Now that I’m self-publishing my more recent books, I decided to let these out for a ramble. Some of them I'm quite proud of, and some are fairly naff. They exist as a window on a time in my life when I was näive but learning. Along with these are a second batch, inspired by the trauma and after-effects of my brain hemorrhage and stroke in 2009, and a mental health poetry group I was introduced to shortly after my stroke; great therapy!

Usually, he is verbose and given to his own mantra of “why say only five words, when you can use 50?” Occasionally, he writes a rather profound thing, which he reads back when sober and thinks “Did I really write that?”
