Lovin' the Coven

Welcome to Cedar Falls.... I thought the sign seemed a little too welcoming, but when you get the call to move from the goddess herself, you don’t get to be picky. I just wasn’t expecting my new home to be so rustic and...down on its luck. But, when you’re a witch, life can get pretty interesting...and dangerous. Especially when someone is killing the local coven. At least the chief of police is pretty hot, when he’s not accusing me of being the murderer. Cedar Falls seems to have no shortage of hot men. With so many stunning men, why choose just one? Sorry, Chief.

Nothing can turn your world upside down faster than someone asking for your help. When I answered my door, the last thing I expected was a vampire. I probably should have asked before I invited him in. But what's done is done. He wasn't looking for his next meal, he was looking for a savior. His clan was being hunted by rogue witches out for their blood and we were all that could save them. Me, being me, jumped right in to be the hero. The rest of the clan thought I was insane for wanting to help vampires.

Want to know how to ruin a holiday? Have the guy you gave your virginity to and then dumped you to move to another country show up. Not kidding. It definitely puts a damper on the holiday festivities. Especially when your current boyfriends take an instant seething dislike to him. What's a girl to do? Get falling-down drunk, that's what. At least, there was plenty of pie. On a good note, ex-boyfriends are a much smaller problem to deal with than angry, hungry demons. 

There are two things you should always remember about elves. One, they never miss. Two, they never give up. I thought I was safe when my familiar stopped the arrow from turning me into a kabob, but as I said, elves don't give up. Especially when they think you destroyed their city and killed their king in some grandiose quest for power. They didn't know me very well.

Want to know my secret? Probably not as much as I do. It seems like everybody knows what the hell I am but me. Apparently, I'm only half the witch I thought I was. Literally. I'd spent my entire life thinking my father was a witch like my mother. I should have known better. Nobody could be that big of a witch. Now, to figure out who and what he is, I get to travel the known realms in search of answers. Unfortunately, sometimes ignorance truly is bliss.

I thought things were calming down and getting back to normal. After a foray into the elven lands to rescue my friend from the nefarious clutches of the dark elves, I'd been looking forward to spending a nice quiet holiday in Cedar Falls with the people I love. Especially the guys. We deserved a break and some alone time. But I should have known better than that. Instead of Jingle Bells, spiked eggnog, and date nights, I'm faced with angry ghosts, rotten zombies, witch-hating locals, a pissed off vampire lord, and a partridge in a pear tree.

May you live in interesting times. I'm not quite sure who said it, but I'd sure as hell like to find him and beat him in the head with a shovel. One thing about Cedar Falls...it was definitely interesting. I'd have settled for boring. Maybe even dull with a smidge of mediocrity. I guess I had nobody to blame but myself. That's what happens when your mother is the biggest witch, and I mean that literally, on the planet, your father is the god of night, and you're something in between. Something that keeps getting stronger. Something you can't always control.
