The Chronicles of Narnia (Author's Preferred Order)

In The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Edmund and Lucy Pevensie, the younger two of the four English children featured in the first two Narnia books, return to the kingdom. The ship The Dawn Treader was built by King Caspian for a voyage to find the seven lords banished by his evil Uncle Miraz when he usurped the throne. The journey takes Edmund, Lucy, and their cousin Eustace to the Eastern Islands beyond the Silver Sea, en route to Aslan's country at the End of the World. Each island they visit has its own story so the narrative almost reads like a series.

The Dawn Treader is the first ship Narnia has seen in centuries. King Caspian has built it for his first voyage to find the seven lords, good men whom his evil uncle Miraz banished when he usurped the throne. The journey takes Edmund, Lucy, their cousin Eustace, and Caspian to the Eastern Islands, beyond the Silver Sea, toward Aslan's country at the End of the World.

When Edmund and Lucy Pevensie, along with their reluctant cousin Eustace, are swept into a magical painting, they find themselves aboard the Dawn Treader, the royal ship of King Caspian. Their mission: to journey across uncharted seas in search of seven lost lords and the edge of the world itself. As they brave enchanted islands, sea serpents, dark magic, and inner transformations, the voyagers discover that the greatest quests are not only across oceans but within their own hearts.

The Silver Chair by C.S. Lewis was the fourth published of the seven novels that make up The Chronicles of Narnia (1950-1956), but is marked volume six in those editions that are sequenced according to the Narnian chronology. The story takes place decades after The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, when Aslan summons Eustace Scrubb and his classmate Jill Pole to help in the quest of finding the missing Prince Rillian, son and heir of King Caspian. After a journey filled with many dangers, they confront the witch who must be defeated in order to save Prince Rillian’s life.

The Silver Chair by C.S. Lewis is a children’s novel in the Narnia series. Eustace and Jill escape from the school bullies through a magical door in the wall. In Narnia, Aslan the lion has a job for them; to find and bring back the lost prince to Narnia. He also gives them detailed instructions, and they pursue the quest with vigor, through deep recesses and dark caverns, in order to rescue Prince Rillian. Finally, they face the evil witch that must be defeated.

Through dangers untold and caverns deep and dark, a noble band of friends is sent to rescue a prince held captive. But their mission to Underland brings them face-to-face with an evil more beautiful and more deadly than they ever expected.

The Last Battle by CS Lewis concludes the Narnia series of novels. The story takes place 2,500 Narnian years since the creation of the world as related in The Magician's Nephew. The ape Shift sets up a false Aslan, starts to order his fellow Narnians around, and causes conflict between true and false Narnians, and between Narnia and Calormen, whose people worship the malevolent Tash.

The Last Battle by C.S. Lewis is the final novel in the Narnia series. The story is set some 2500 Narnian years since the creation of the world as told in The Magician's Nephew. A false Aslan is set up in the borderlands, and conflict ensues between true and false Narnians and between Narnia and Calormen, whose people worship the malevolent Tash.

During the last days of Narnia, the land faces its fiercest challenge - not an invader from without but an enemy from within. Lies and treachery have taken root, and only the king and a small band of loyal followers can prevent the destruction of all they hold dear in this, the magnificent ending to The Chronicles of Narnia.
