It’s not what you think...Hell is bone-chilling. Gabe is a good guy making the best of eternity in a place not known for its hospitality — until he is recruited by Judas Iscariot (yes, that Judas) to join a sect of double agents dedicated to sabotaging the mayhem being released on Earth.

Bad choices bred his dark afterlife. Secretly righting wrong might secure his redemption...or his ultimate doom. Underworld double agent Gabriel “Gabe” Gantry can’t stop screwing up. But trying to commit covert good deeds from inside Hell is a devilishly tricky balancing act. Especially when his latest agency gig sends him topside for something suspiciously non-satanic. Being a double agent in the Underworld is never simple, but a gig that doesn’t involve preventing the next apocalypse would be a breath of fresh air. But Gabe knows better. There has to be a catch.

Gabe thought he knew his partner, but when she takes on a freelance project to murder a few thousand people, he’s not so sure. A Judas Agent is supposed to wreak havoc among the living but that's not what Gabe signed on for. Judas Iscariot recruited him to stop this sort of thing from happening, so why was his boss on board with Alex’s plan?

When Gabe’s partner, Alex, takes a turn towards the good guys, it doesn’t mean life in The Nine gets better for him. His soul is leaking like the head gasket on an old Ford, and he learns there are even worse ways to spend his time then being sent to the Gnashing Fields to swim laps in the Sulfur Pools. Every Demon in the underworld is out to slurp up his oozing essence, and if he can’t seal the seepage, his struggles as a double agent in the Judas agency will be the least of his worries.

Alex has her hands full with a Freshborn Gabe. His memories are gone and his squeamish demeanor has her wanting to shove him back into the Sulfur Pools. Gabe questions whether or not he is better off without his memories when a secret about Alex is uncovered putting their partnership at risk. If that wasn't complicated enough. Gabe must make a choice. Go against the direct orders of Judas and risk losing himself to powers so dark Heaven and Hell combined cannot stand against them, or listen to Judas and refuse to interfere in the evil destruction raging across the Earth.
