À propos de cet audio
A New Resource for Those Experiencing Loss
With It's OK That You're Not OK, Megan Devine offers a profound new approach to both the experience of grief and the way we help others who have endured tragedy. Having experienced grief from both sides - as both a therapist and as a woman who witnessed the accidental drowning of her beloved partner - Megan writes with deep insight about the unspoken truths of loss, love, and healing. She debunks the culturally prescribed goal of returning to a normal, "happy" life, replacing it with a far healthier middle path, one that invites us to build a life alongside grief rather than seeking to overcome it.
On this unabridged audio recording read by the author, Megan offers stories, research, life tips, and creative and mindfulness-based practices to guide us through an experience we all must face. With Megan's gentle but direct guidance, you'll learn:
- Why well-meaning advice, therapy, and spiritual wisdom so often end up making it harder for people in grief
- How challenging the myths of grief - doing away with stages, timetables, and unrealistic ideals about how grief should unfold - allows us to accept it as a mystery to be honored instead of a problem to solve
- Practical guidance for managing stress, improving sleep, and decreasing anxiety without trying to "fix" your pain
Many people who have suffered a loss feel judged, dismissed, and misunderstood by a culture that wants to "solve" grief. Megan writes, "Grief no more needs a solution than love needs a solution." It's OK That You're Not OK is a book for grieving people, those who love them, and all those seeking to love themselves - and each other - better.

When a loved one dies, the pain of loss can feel unbearable—especially in the case of a traumatizing death that leaves us shouting, “NO!” with every fiber of our body. The process of grieving can feel wild and nonlinear—and often lasts for much longer than other people, the nonbereaved, tell us it should. Organized into fifty-two short chapters, Bearing the Unbearable is a companion for life’s most difficult times, revealing how grief can open our hearts to connection, compassion, and the very essence of our shared humanity.

On Death and Dying began as a theoretical book, an interdisciplinary study of our fear of death and our inevitable acceptance of it. It introduced the world to the now-famous five stages: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. On Grief and Grieving applies these stages to the process of grieving and weaves together theory, inspiration, and practical advice, all based on Kübler-Ross' and Kessler's professional and personal experiences.

Essential for navigating grief as a griever and supporter of someone grieving

Very helpful for grief
Un problème est survenu. Veuillez réessayer dans quelques minutes.
What I took from this book from the very beginning was the honesty and truthfulness. Finally someone gets what I feel inside. It spoke of areas where people treaded lightly afraid to talk or do something as it might be taboo.
This book has touched me in many ways but mostly it has filled a void in my heart. I am glad that I purchased it in Audible so that I can listen to it when I need to. I also want to purchase the actual book so that I can look at the exercises and share it with my loved ones, the individuals who don’t ask what I need but are there when I just need someone by my side.
Thank you for your honesty and kindness. I am so very sorry for your loss and thank you for sharing your experiences and that of others so that we can all feel like we have a person in our corner that just gets it.
Finally a book that is truthful and comes from the heart!

I thought this book was rather unique in the amount of validation it provides on the experience of grief, as well as the latest scientific evidence on the topic, including a sociological perspective on why so many people are feeling invalidated and misunderstood during their grief journey. This book would surely also be helpful to persons trying to better understand grief in order to support others on their journey, including grief counselors.
I also find that concrete and helpful tools are shared throughout the book, specifically geared towards each stage of grief, including the best use of self-care, self-reflection and journaling for example.
Last remark: I personally enjoyed the author's tone of voice, as I found her soothing, kind, and compassionate. I found this made the book a safe listen during the early stages of grief or during difficult moments in grief. I think it might not have been appropriate in fact for the other to use a different more entertainment oriented tone of voice considering the topic discussed and the target audience.
Wonderful book for persons at any stage of grief
