Description

In this revolutionary book, a professor of education at Stanford University and acclaimed math educator who has spent decades studying the impact of beliefs and bias on education, reveals the six keys to unlocking learning potential, based on the latest scientific findings.

From the moment we enter school as children, we are made to feel as if our brains are fixed entities, capable of learning certain things and not others, influenced exclusively by genetics. This notion follows us into adulthood, where we tend to simply accept these established beliefs about our skillsets (i.e. that we don’t have “a math brain” or that we aren’t “the creative type”). These damaging - and as new science has revealed, false - assumptions have influenced all of us at some time, affecting our confidence and willingness to try new things and limiting our choices, and, ultimately, our futures.

Stanford University professor, bestselling author, and acclaimed educator Jo Boaler has spent decades studying the impact of beliefs and bias on education. In Limitless Mind, she explodes these myths and reveals the six keys to unlocking our boundless learning potential. Her research proves that those who achieve at the highest levels do not do so because of a genetic inclination toward any one skill but because of the keys that she reveals in the book. Our brains are not “fixed,” but entirely capable of change, growth, adaptability, and rewiring. Want to be fluent in mathematics? Learn a foreign language? Play the guitar? Write a book? The truth is not only that anyone at any age can learn anything, but the act of learning itself fundamentally changes who we are, and as Boaler argues so elegantly in this audiobook, what we go on to achieve.

Good but not new

If you have never read anything on growth mindset, this is a fairly comprehensive and worth a read. However, if you are already familiar with the topic, there isn’t much new content here. Struggling to think of a take-away beyond what I already knew.

Fascinating

Really well read book with lots of examples and helpful reference materials. I don't learn well drudging through the monotony of heavily structured non-fiction books. Flew through it quickly and is a great jumping off point into the subject.

True Wisdom

As a new transplant to a location and which has been a recessed and down-and-out area the thought logic and openness of leading a limitless life has enabled to communicate better and work with people who have diametrically opposed views in a way where we can all improve. I recommend this book to everyone, but especially those who feel stuck or lost.

Amazing book

This book will show scientific evidence that one can CHOOSE the Positive Growth MindSet; we are CAPABLE of CONTINUOUSLY LEARNING (i.e, we have a limitless mind).
I'm listening to it for the second time now, and I have listened to MANY Audiobooks.
Get it, it might even make you cry. It's really good.
Thank you, Jo Boaler and all people who contributed to this, thank you.

Great Read

Loved the content and the concept of embracing struggle and failure. it has allowed me to confirm things I have already felt as well as change my mindset on how I see learning and my ability to gain new knowledge and skills.

can change the way we think

I loved this book. Jo Boaler explains how changing our way of thinking from mindset to mind growth allows us to do anything we put our mind too. I am a math teacher and found this book didn't just apply to math but to life. it has changed my thinking and I hope to embed it in my lessons for my students.

Absolutely Fascinating!

First, I tend to love audiobooks read by the author. Jo Boaler reads this and puts on a really great performance. Her English accent is delightful. The content is incredibly fascinating. It has a subtle mix of research, pedagogy, concrete tips and tricks for teachers, and compelling storytelling. I recommend this to all educators. It might just change how you see kids. Believe in them!
