In this work on a subject too often dismissed as paranormal or disreputable, Jeffrey Meldrum gives us the first book on Sasquatch to be written by a scientist with impeccable academic credentials. He gives an objective look at the facts in a field mined with hoaxes and sensationalism. Meldrum reports on the work of a team of experts from a wide variety of fields who were assembled to examine the evidence for a large, yet undiscovered, North American primate. He reviews the long history of this mystery and explains all the scientific pros and cons in a clear and accessible style.

Awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship to investigate the legends of Sasquatch, Yale-trained ecologist Dr. Robert Pyle treks into the unprotected wilderness of the Dark Divide near Mount St. Helens, where he discovers both a giant fossil footprint and recent tracks. On the trail of what he thought was legend, he searches out Indians who tell him of an outcast tribe, the Seeahtiks, who had not fully evolved into humans.

Ready for some stories from the vast wilderness of Canada? It's home to the sasquatch: a creature that's revered and feared by the natives there since before time was recorded. Settle back with a cup of hot chocolate, lock the doors, and be ready to call your best friend in case you start seeing big hairy faces in the window (but be aware that your friend may also be listening to these stories, so have a backup plan).

For more than 50 years, bizarre events at a remote Utah ranch have ranged from the perplexing to the wholly terrifying: vanishing and mutilated cattle, huge otherworldly creatures, invisible objects emitting magnetic fields, and more. For the family living at Skinwalker Ranch, life was under siege, and no one had been able to explain the horrors that surrounded them...But maybe science could. Leading a first-class team of research scientists, Colm Kelleher spent hundreds of days and nights on the Skinwalker property.

One Drum draws from the foundational teachings of Ojibway tradition, the Grandfather Teachings. Focusing specifically on the lessons of humility, respect, and courage, the volume contains simple ceremonies that anyone anywhere can do, alone or in a group, to foster harmony and connection. Wagamese believed that there is a shaman in each of us, that we are all teachers, and in the world of the spirit, there is no right way or wrong way.

Description
On the central and north coast of British Columbia, the Great Bear Rainforest is the largest intact temperate rainforest in the world, containing more organic matter than any other terrestrial ecosystem on the planet. The area plays host to a wide range of species, from thousand-year-old western cedars to humpback whales to iconic white Spirit bears. According to local residents, another giant is said to live in these woods.
For centuries, people have reported encounters with the Sasquatch - a species of hairy, bipedal man-apes said to inhabit the deepest recesses of this pristine wilderness. Driven by his own childhood obsession with the creatures, John Zada decides to seek out the diverse inhabitants of this rugged and far-flung coast, where nearly everyone has a story to tell, from a scientist who has dedicated his life to researching the Sasquatch to members of the area’s First Nations and a former grizzly-bear hunter-turned-nature tour guide. With each tale, Zada discovers that his search for the Sasquatch is a quest for something infinitely more complex, cutting across questions of human perception, scientific inquiry, indigenous traditions, the environment, and the power and desire of the human imagination to believe in?or reject - something largely unseen.

The Sasquatch book I needed
I've had a lifelong interest in sasquatch. From true believer, to skeptic, to now somewhere in between. It was easy for me to put myself in the authors position, if someone who really wants to believe. Like the author, I am fascinated by the folklore and by the people who have had experiences. Even if you're not interested in Sasquatch, this book is a fascinating travelog of remote first nation communities.

An intelligent and thoughtful story
Lately I have found myself caught up in stories of Sasquatch. I have noticed a lot of sensationalism and Clickbait. Being caught up in this, I looked for a more thoughtful record, and found it in this book. The author approaches his subject with a lot of care and respect for both the land and the people he speaks to along the way. There are some real characters, and entertaining stories in here. His writing served as a palate cleanser for a lot of the crap that is out there. And the narrator did a good job! So thank you, John Zara, for writing this book.

About more than the Sasquatch
I thought the intent of the book was to educate on the Sasquatch mystery but the book ended up being much more. A pinch folklore, a pinch research, a dab of First Nations and Big bear rainforest culture and a good dolup of what it is to be human and the challenges that entails. An added touch of metaphysics here and there just to keep things interesting
Thought it may just have been an extended version of the author's several articles on the subject but there was enough difference to keep me going.
An intriguing listen. Like everything else humans debate, the individuals involved seem to be divided, which benefits the discussion.
