Series keeps getting better

I love Brodie. He is my spirit robot.

Speaking of Robots, how many of those do they have? How many can they make? Do you have to be dead or artificial to inhabit one? That could solve the HR problem.

Favorite 80's action hero:
Michael J Fox
Kidding!
Take Arnold and Sylvester out and its Kurt Russell.

Get to the choppa ... err ... Predator!

Brodie grows on you ,,, with the overall story having a Sunday Matinee feel: the good guys are having to be constantly on the move to deal with problems, the sheriff or the cavalry always riding to rescue. Definitely entertaining.

My only disappointment is the "Just In Time" manner additional "important" characters are minted 5 minutes before their lives are at risk or they become the pivot point of the story. A little more time in the background, mentioned and integrated would feel better.

But I like this series, like a chewy bubble gum for the brain, something different from the real world.

Just curious Jason, besides the few Marines you tuck into your universes ... does everything need to be solved by Rangers and only Rangers ?

Favorite action movie ? It would be the Christmas Classic : Die Hard.
But for fun, nothing beats the off-kilter comic book pulp : The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension

I hope you get to put the first Christmas on Amir

MOAR!!! GIVE ME MORE YOU BASTARDS!

*Ahem* Excuse me, I'll have to pull myself together for this review

The book is great - The unapologetically pro-American humor and patriotism from Brodie is so well done and unique that it'll keep you hooked. The writing (combined with narration) made some parts of the book feel like a horror story which is unique in the action/adventure genre, Moreover, the book adds some philosophical thought experiments that I am interested in hearing them continue. As for the narrator, R.C. Bray does a great job with the voice work, particularly with Brodie. Just to keep this review legit; I feel like the author was limiting his potential by teasing the "bigger picture" story arc, Specifically, I feel like the booked teased the greater story arc too much when it should have divulged more. It's a small complaint, and one driven due to my own engrossment into the story. The author has an extremely good touch on society and ideological social positions. .

I've deployed overseas (Afghanistan) and this guy nails the sub-cultural humor. I recommend picking it up and checking it out. If you're a fan of Expeditionary Force then you'll like this series. And no, it isn't a clone of the aforementioned book.

Also, it was asked in prologue. Foundational action movies for me were "They Live" / "Aliens (aka. Alien 2)" / "Predator" / "Starship Troopers" / "Platoon"

The best parts of cheesy 80s action and sxi-fi

I really dig this series. Rangers in space, cool. Half crazy combat Droid obsessed with 80s action, really cool. Add in a bunch of different comunist enemies and it just becomes awesome. Rc Bray kills it as always.

And to answer the authors question: in the 80s my favorite action star was Stalone in the Rambo films. In the 90s it was Arnold for Terminator 2.

Disappointing

I loved the first book in the series because of the universe the authors created. I thought this book would cover a little bit more about the planetary politics as well as battle sequences. However the author spent too much time hunting tigers and monkeys. The politics played out in the first book becomes extremely simplistic and non existent in the second book. You could literally summarize this book down to “ I gotta kill Ivan hiding in the bushes“I don’t think it’s worth the investment.

Another great listen!

A very interesting way to continue the story while developing a richer world for future books. O have to say I definatly enjoyed the first book more but I think that was mostly the novelty of the characters. I would recommend this if you enjoyed the first and I do hope they end up making many more, like 4 more. And obviously RC Bray was fantastic as he always is!

Fair warning the last hour or so is a discussion about the book, but I found very interesting and funny.

P.s I know it's a little late I the timeline but I would have to Demolition Man with Stalone and Snipes. My favorite scene is when he is swearing at the ticket machine. Classic.

C'C-Clapping commies!!!

Brody is B-B-Back and better than ever!! This quickly becoming my favorite series. Funny, action packed and full of pop culture references from late 70's to early 90's. Keep it coming boys!! We need more Brody.

Brody makes me laugh out loud in my car!!

RC Bray is a jewel and brings so many characters to life every book he performs.
Brody is the ultimate tribute to 80s and 90s action movies…such a fun character.

Totally binged the entire book in one listen!!

This week be the first review I've actually written. I always give stars, but just never take the time to write a review. I feel like I have to say though, that I am beyond in love with everything to do with this universe that's been created and I just made up a bunch of reasons to stay in the garage, so that I could listen to the entire thing, including the author's note, the interview at the end, the credits, and listened to the gag real twice lol. Not only that, but I have no doubt that if book 3 were available, I would 100% already be listening to it right now too!
Oh, and side note, there are so many throw away lines and movie quotes that made me realize just how many movies I have memorized from when I was a kid, and I'm not sure if I'm proud of slightly ashamed that I'm fairly certain I caught every single one and knew exactly what movie was being referenced! I have to say I laughed the hardest at the Tinker quote from Road House!! that has always been my favorite line from that movie and I thought it was just me that will forever have it seared into my mind, but apparently Brody thought it was a great one too lol! Thank you all for bringing such an entertaining and satisfying story to life, and R.C. Bray is an absolute mad genius! What a perfect collaboration!! Can not wait for 3!!!

Great Storyline, keep them coming!

Enjoyed 2 as much or more than the first. You captured most of the top action hero’s of the time but you may have missed Rowdy Roddy Piper in “Them”, very John Matrix.

Great sequel

The second Wayward Galaxy was even better than anticipated. The evolution of the characters and the story line is compelling and holds your interest with every page read. R.C.Bray was his usual brilliant self, bringing the characters, and the alien planet’s flora and fauna to life as if you were there yourself. As per your request Jason, my favorite action stars from the eighties were Kurt Russell, Escape From New York, The Thing, Big Trouble In Little China, and Arnold, his whole catalog. I very much look forward to the third installment of Wayward Galaxy, and could not recommend it any higher to anyone who hasn’t listened to either book yet.
Regards,
Sam Thompson

Brody is in my brain!

Thanks for making me relive my time at the movie theaters and walking down the aisles at Block Buster. Brody is now living in the back of my mind shouting movie lines...so thanks fot that. 😝
One guy you missed was Patrick Swayze. Sure you mentioned Red Dawn (1984) but what about Uncommon Valor (1983) and my personal favorite Steel Dawn (1987). Don't forget Peter Griffin's personal favorite ROADHOUSE! (1989)

Difficult to follow battle sequences

First, I'm a huge fan of the first audio book. This second book in the series had great moments and I laughed out loud several times!

I had difficulty following what the heck was going on in the battle scenes though. A bunch of new characters were suddenly introduced and I couldn't keep track of what the heck was going on at times. I had to rewind several times to relisten. The main problem I had was remembering what the current environment was like where the characters were. As the story jumped from scene to scene, it wasn't very well described what the situation was like. Normally, I feel like I can picture events in my head, but the lack of descriptive information made that difficult in many cases.

Also, why chase down an entangled partical when you don't know where the matched entangled particle is?????
