Description

The #1 personal finance book of all time... translated into dozens of languages and sold around the world.

Rich Dad Poor Dad is Robert's story of growing up with two dads - his real father and the father of his best friend, his rich dad - and the ways in which both men shaped his thoughts about money and investing. The book explodes the myth that you need to earn a high income to be rich and explains the difference between working for money and having your money work for you.

20 Years... 20/20 Hindsight
In the 20th anniversary edition of this classic, Robert offers an update on what we’ve seen over the past 20 years related to money, investing, and the global economy. Sidebars throughout the book will take listeners “fast forward” - from 1997 to today - as Robert assesses how the principles taught by his rich dad have stood the test of time.

In many ways, the messages of Rich Dad Poor Dad, messages that were criticized and challenged two decades ago, are more meaningful, relevant and important today than they were 20 years ago.

As always, listeners can expect that Robert will be candid, insightful... and continue to rock more than a few boats in his retrospective.

Will there be a few surprises? Count on it.

Rich Dad Poor Dad...

  • Explodes the myth that you need to earn a high income to become rich
  • Challenges the belief that your house is an asset
  • Shows parents why they can't rely on the school system to teach their kids about money
  • Defines once and for all an asset and a liability
  • Teaches you what to teach your kids about money for their future financial success

Great info just missing diagrams

The book references several diagrams however since this is an audiobook you cannot see the diagrams and no links have been provided to follow along with the diagrams.

Amoral, dated, but motivational

Decent classic. The mindset he recommends makes sense and is motivational. Using your intelligence to make money is a timeless useful advice. I wish there was more up to date useful actionable tips.

However, I do not respect the author's selfish philosophy regarding taxes and capitalism. I recommend reading Patagonia Yvon Chouinard's 2016 "Let My People Go Surfing" for a moral attitude towards running a top business for profit, for your employees, for the betterment of society and the environment.

The world would be a better place if people read the latter more than this book.

Outdated - Skip this one.

Pro : The voice over work by Tom Parks is excellent.
Con : This book is incredibly outdated. The author comes off as a buffoon. Once a chapter is over your get a summary of the chapter and its almost as long as the chapter you just read / listened to.
HINT : Skip the summary and go to the next chapter. It will save you time.
Advice: Skip this book and find another

If I could burn an audio book - I'd burn this one

Was it the repetitiveness? Was it the poor writing? Was it the non-stop use of cliches? Was it the fact that buying this book gave money that supports this person's ridiculousness, thereby making them even more sure of their absurdity. It was likely all of the above.

If you ever felt that people who "make money" or "retired early" because they got a book published and are reaping the financial benefits of it - this would be that person.

There are so many more insightful and cohesive books out there on personal finance. A lot of them share the same notions on debt and similar notions on earnings - it is almost everything else that is a waste of time. If you select this one, pick it up from your local library or second hand. At times it felt like I donated money to Trump by buying this book.

Excellent! Well worth the read.

My nephew gets a copy and we start today. I actually think that thinking in this prescribed manner will bring families together. this plus the talent pool involved and a dynasty begins.

Mediocre

I liked some ideas (which weren't exactly original by a long shot) but still I liked the way he has compiled them and added stories and examples. I just had one question throughout the book when he kept talking about smartness, intelligence and other things that helped him make millions from chunk change on multiple occasions, how rich he must be. $80 million at the age of 73 even when he started at 9. Some people I personally know have acquired more wealth legitimately in a lot shorter time with intelligence that he kept boasting about. So, eh!

Very informative for newbies

I had no knowledge of mindset on good finances prior to reading this. This book is a good read for someone who has no clue on where to start or what it's supposed to do.

Une excellente base

Ce livre, parfois un peu répétitif, contient des vérités qui vous ouvre les yeux sur l’argent. Je le recommande vraiment !

Dope book to begin your journey of financial literacy

I just downloaded the book and only in the first few chapters but I’m already learning things that I haven’t heard before! I love it so far and recommend to anyone looking to get out of the “rat race”. Also take a look at the pdf files included with the book. In order to do so go to the desktop version of your audible account and go to library, there is where you’ll be able to download the PDFs

if you've read the original, this is too similar

I wouldn't recommend getting this if you've read the original since it seems like the only changes are a bit in the beginning and breaks in between chapters to summarize and review. If you have trouble reflecting on what you've read, then the review sections may be of more use to you. It's still an amazing book and this is the definitive version if you're just getting it for the first time.

Great Book - No Access to PDF of tables & graphs

The book is great and so is the performance of the narrator. But without access to the PDF of the information they mention in some of the chapters, I feel as though I'm missing out on something.

Good book, but terribly cut for audible

This book is pretty good, and confirms a lot of things I’ve come to realize on my own over the years. I must say the first 2/3 or so of the book is really solid, but it gets less insightful and the advice more sketchy toward the end.

Unfortunately, the audible version is cut terribly. It makes no sense to have the study questions from chapter n at the start of chapter n + 1. These should be totally separate chapters in an audiobook. Really disappointed that audible screwed this up so bad.

Don’t buy! Waste of time & money!

This book is a terrible waste of time and money!!
I got it to learn about investing and finance, and there is ZERO useful information in this book!
The writer may be an awesome investor that made millions, but he is extremely stringy with his knowledge. He is a true salesman that talks a lot and says VERY little. The content is very superficial and dumbed-down from beginning to end, practically treating his readers like idiots, and the same few concepts are repeated over and over and over again... like how important it is to have financial IQ (no kidding!! That’s why we purchased the book!!) but makes zero attempts to teach anything about it. And how having a house is a liability, not an asset (repeated so many times that I started skipping forward whenever he started talking about this again). I kept going on though, hoping that maybe he’ll get to the point in the next chapter... then the next... but nope! This book is AWFUL! Thank God that Audible allows you to exchange this with something else so I can rid of this crap asap. But you want to listen to a lame, 8-hour informercial about how smart he is, then buy this book

Great advice

Great advice, but my file kept repeating the same things...glitchy throughout. I could have been smoother, but seemed repetitive to me.
