À propos de cet audio
“Essential reading for COVID times. . . . The tool we all need right now: a smart, straightforward guide that speaks directly to the question: How can I build a strong immune system? The book is packed with clear, actionable advice for building a strong immune system, losing weight, feeling younger and aging beautifully.”—Yahoo! Life
How you age is up to you. And it’s easy to take charge.
From the renowned integrative doctor Frank Lipman comes a radically simple program to reverse the symptoms we reflexively call “normal aging,” including feeling achy, stiff, sluggish, weak, and vulnerable to chronic illness. This improves not only our life span but, more importantly, our health span—our quality of life and how we feel.
Built on a series of lifestyle changes that energize the body and build and strengthen its immune system, The New Rules of Aging Well is based on ancient wisdom backed up by science: Eat less and practice intermittent fasting. Do 20 minutes a day of something meditative. Switch to gentler workouts, but move as much as possible. Unlock the incredible power of mushrooms. Grow your tribe. Walk barefoot when you can.
The result: a rejuvenated you that looks great and feels healthy, happy, sexy, agile, and strong.

Overwork is the new normal. Rest is something to do when the important things are done - but they are never done. Looking at different forms of rest, from sleep to vacation, Silicon Valley futurist and business consultant Alex Soojung-Kim Pang dispels the myth that the harder we work the better the outcome. He combines rigorous scientific research with a rich array of examples of writers, painters, and thinkers - from Darwin to Stephen King - to challenge our tendency to see work and relaxation as antithetical.

The midlife crisis is the butt of so many jokes, but this long-derided life stage has an upside. What if we could reframe our thinking about the natural transition of midlife not as a crisis, but as a chrysalis—a time when something profound awakens in us, as we shed our skin, spread our wings, and pollinate our wisdom? In Learning to Love Midlife, Chip Conley offers an alternative narrative to the way we commonly think of our 40s, 50s and 60s. Drawing on the latest social science research, inspiring stories, and timeless wisdom, he reveals 12 reasons why life gets better with age.

“Essential reading for COVID times. . . . The New Rules of Aging Well is the tool we all need right now: a smart, straightforward guide that speaks directly to the question: How can I build a strong immune system? The book is packed with clear, actionable advice for building a strong immune system, losing weight, feeling younger and aging beautifully. . . . We were surprised by some of the advice in the book, because it’s so…easy. . . . [The New Rules of Aging Well] just might change your perspective on this crazy time we’re living through—reframing it as a call to action, a time to build strength and immunity and become the best version of yourself. Grab a friend, and jump in together. There’s a lot of uncertainty in the world right now—this is one thing we know will make you feel better."—Yahoo! Life
“Immune competence and responsiveness, collectively referred to as immune resilience, has emerged as one of the most fundamental metrics defining a healthy human. And while immune resilience generally declines with age, it is now clear that our lifestyle choices profoundly influence this decline, even to the extent of rejuvenating the competency of immune function. In Dr. Lipman’s The New Rules of Aging Well, you will gain the tools to realize this goal, while you regain strength and vitality as well. This is profound information, validated by our most up-to-date research, that will undoubtedly pave the way for your health and longevity.”—David Perlmutter, MD, author of the New York Times bestsellers Grain Brain and Brain Maker
“Dr. Frank Lipman has done it again. This OG of functional medicine has been my go-to health expert for over two decades, and for good reason: in the overcrowded digital world of wellness, he always sets it straight and is always on the cutting edge. Now he tackles the nuances of aging with clarity—and I trust every word.”—Bobbi Brown

Thorough, practical and motivating
The main information (exercise, eliminate processed and starchy food) was not new, but I was looking for a larger overview that would inspire me. This had lots more options to consider than I had heard before, I definitely got fresh ideas and new determination to more fully implement the essentials. A good length to get absorbed in, but not too long and not too much inessential science. I'm not into many supplements, but if I had a particular chronic, low-level problem, I can see trying them before prescription drugs. Doesn't make nonsense claims to prevent cancer or heart disease, it's more about maintaining or recovering basic good health and immunity after age 65.
