  • Encore: The Sheer Ecstasy of Being a Lunatic Farmer with Joel Salatin
    Feb 7 2017
Joel Salatin joins us to discuss his groundbreaking book The Sheer Ecstasy of Being a Lunatic Farmer. Joel will describe how he is shunned by industrial farmers, vilified by corporate agri-business, and stalked by food police as being a lunatic. But Joel enjoys the sheer ecstasy of being surrounded by happy, frolicking animals, dancing earthworms, and appreciative customers. His family's farm, Polyface, Inc. (Farm of Many Faces) is nestled in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley and has achieved iconic status by featuring prominently in the Grammy nominated documentary, Food Inc., as well as the NYT best-seller Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan. Joel will describe the breadth and depth of the paradigm differences between healing and exploitative food systems. If you want to understand more about our broken food system, and what is being done to fix it, then this show is a must.

  • Encore: A Discussion about Herbalism, The Original Medicine
    Jan 31 2017
A Discussion about Herbalism, The Original Medicine will feature Fort Collins, CO Herbalist, Nutritionist, and owner of Golden Poppy Herbal Apothecary, Sarah Josey. Sarah will discuss what Herbalism is and how it works. She will also discuss common conditions that she treats with a combination of Herbalism and Nutrition, such as hormonal imbalances, insomnia, autoimmune diseases, and chronic stress. The use of herbs to treat illness and regain health dates back millennia and unfortunately has been lost in mainstream medicine, which tends to rely on pharmaceutical interventions which may have serious side-effects and only treat the symptoms of the illness. It would serve us to look back to the uses of Herbalism so we can move forward in a more holistic and healthy way.
