Welcome to the inaugural episode on Spot On: Sustainability, where we explore sustainability initiatives at universities across Calgary. This semester, we’re starting at Mount Royal University (MRU).

Meet our host Abi, our producer Bella, and our editor Julianna - they’ll be guides shining a spotlight on sustainability initiatives at the MRU campus and beyond!

Sustainable swaps are something that are easy for anyone to implement - so we’re taking to the streets (and our own recording studio) to hear from students and staff at MRU about the changes they’ve made to be more sustainable in their daily lives. Whether it’s using public transport, thrifting clothes, using refillable toiletries, or embracing vegan and cruelty-free cosmetics, there’s so many options that you can integrate into your daily life without causing yourself too much stress. We also highlight MRU's commitment to sustainability through LEED-certified buildings and sustainable communication. Get inspired to make a positive impact on your environment!

Subscribe to the Spot On feed to hear next month’s episode - until then, keep practicing sustainability in your own life one episode at a time!

This semester, season one is housed at Mount Royal University, situated on an ancient and storied land steeped in ceremony and history that, until recently, was occupied exclusively by people indigenous to this place. With gratitude and reciprocity, this podcast acknowledges the relationships to the land and all beings, and the songs, stories and teachings of the Siksika Nation, the Piikani Nation, the Kainai Nation, the Îethka Stoney Nakoda Nation (consisting of the Chiniki, Bearspaw and Goodstoney Nations), the people of the Tsuut’ina Nation, and the Métis.

Spot On is produced in partnership with Sustainable Calgary, whose mission is to promote, encourage, and support community level actions and initiatives that move Calgary towards a sustainable future. To learn more, visit https://www.sustainablecalgary.org.
